Door unlocking
So I'm easily confused, and the random unlocking of my doors puzzles me.
I stop, hit P, put the handbrake on and press the stop button, sometimes the doors unlock sometimes they don't Clearly there is a correct sequence, buggered if I can work it out Come on clever dicks, clearly I could read the manual, but what's the fun in that |

curious why they are locked in the first place?
Dunno if related, but you can code the locks via the OBC to only open drivers door, and need a 2nd go of the button to unlock the rest ....

I'm assuming they're locked because the automatic drive-away locking feature is set to active. On mine they unlock on switching off the engine.

Also you don't need to hit park and engage the handbrake, the car will do this automatically once you switch the engine off. It will also automatically shift the gearlever over to D if you have sport selected via the gearlever

I'll give that a try thanks. Didn't really like the keyless ignition to start with but getting used to it.

Yes, stop car, press stop button, it resets gearlever if over to the left, and unlocks the doors. Press it again to turn off the radio. No randomness here

The only time I find it doesn't automatically unlock when you switch the engine off is if you have pressed the manual door lock button by the hazard indicators button .. otherwise if they auto lock on driving off they should auto unlock when you turn the engine off

If the doors are locked with the central locking button (rather than the automatic locking), then the door locks will not automatically unlock when switching the engine off.

My 2013 535i is set to auto-lock when I drive away, but it only unlocks the DRIVER's door when I shut it down. I see people in this thread saying the doorS auto-unlock when you shut down. Is there a setting for this?

Yep in idrive under settings you can select whether only the drivers door unlocks or all of them. Thus is then applied when opening the car and when switching off the engine
