Blow-off Valve Adaptor?

Hello All. I have a quick question about a part I seen on ebay.

This part might make a louder sound from the diverter valve, but will it also be sucking in unfiltered air from the atmosphere?

The link is here http://www.ebay.com/itm/281425326664...witem=&vxp=mtr

I'd appreciate your input on this guys.

As Cryptz mentioned, an intake will pretty much give you that sound youre looking for. My AFE intake makes a woosh sound like a BOV would.

Intake $300. Adapter $99..

I'll see what the adapter does first.

If you don't mind trying an untested part made in taiwan from an unknown seller on your $40k+ car, go for it.

Well, it appears that it's merely spacing your factory sealed diverter valve with a vented unit that discharges to atmosphere.

Fairly common to have a hybrid system that partially recircs boost pressure that builds in the system at closed throttle and release to atmosphere. Mainly to reduce risk of an error due to dumping all metered air on a MAF controlled car yet giving people the noise they desire.

I don't foresee it being problematic depending on how BMW maps fuel on decel. Many modern cars to reduce emissions cut fuel on hard decel (throttle lift during shifts) thus the discharge of metered air is less critical to fuel trim adjustments. Unlike past Subarus that used to damn near stall out in traffic haha.

Thanks, cant wait to test it. After I ordered it I was worried that the open vents would suck in unfiltered air. However I believe the diverter valve going into the adapter will prevent that from happening.

It's only meant to discharge. Nothing should be entering the system. It's sealed when closed and only vented under pressure.

Part is either not going to fit, make your car run like shit, or have some unintended consequences. You'll have it on your car for 3 days then take it off and throw it in the trash.

Remember to keep us updated.

I HIGHLY doubt that. I think it will produce the sound I'm looking for.

I meant the intake has the benefit of ~10hp. I feel like that would give you the same result and not be complete BS =).

I know. Intakes don't really give you 10hp imo. Been in the game long enough to know. However I don't think its bs, not looking for any performance gains, just sound. Which I think it will achieve.

Will find out soon enough.

There might be instructions with this, but does anyone know where this part is at under the car?

Update: Its here. Will install today. If anyone could leave any type of hint where to look on the car It would be helpful. Also if anyone knows how to get the torque specs for the screws.
