P Zero Corsa Asimmetrico

Bought a couple of these on closeout for front track tires 265/30/19. $165 each so couldn't resist, but they are both "left" tires. I made the educated assumption that it's OK to run a "left" tire on the right if it's in dry only condition. Kind of like running R888 backwards? Anyone have any experience with these tires?

Sticking with R888 295/30/19 for the rears. Kind of a mish-mosh track tire setup, I know.

Should be fine in the dry. Not sure I'd mix street tires and r comps though. You're going to get some uneven handling.

P zero corsa a street tire? It has 60 utg (lower than R888's 100) and listed under competition tire on Tirerack.com. Oh we'll, I guess we'll find out.

I was thinking the Pirelli was a summer tire. Looks like it's a streetable track tire? Anyway, you might have varying levels of grip between the two different tire compounds, which might produce some funky handling.

I would NEVER mix different R compounds tyres on a car and iirc the Pirellis are unidirectional so I would recommend not running two lefts on the front. You are asking for big trouble IMHO.

Running unidirectional tires in the dry should be ok. The tread pattern is designed to channel water. It shouldn't affect grip at all. But I agree, I wouldn't mix tires. Grip is going to be different b/t front and rear and I doubt the car will feel balanced.

on asymetrical tires, i have heard that the compounds on the inside vs outside may be different so wear may be an issue.

I think you're right, but I'll still be putting the softer outside shoulder on the outside of the wheel, it's just that the right will be rotating backwards.

Nevertheless, you folks have me sufficiently concerned regarding the different tires front to back. The front Toyos were on backorder, maybe I'll see if I can find them somewhere else.

Look at the date of manufacture on the Corsas also. There's a reason someone sold them so incredibly cheap. If they've spent a couple of years in a hot warehouse, I wouldn't use them.

Have you looked at the MPSCs? A great tyre and cheaper than the Corsas. Another tyre that some of the R8 guys swear by is the Pirelli Trofeos.

Yup, asked about the date before I bought them. 2012, so not too bad. Tirerack stores their tires pretty well. Looked at super cups but much more $ than these close-out corsas ($165 each). Yes corsas are really expensive usually. I think these were cheap, since they were out of "right" tires and the Asimmetrico 2 replaced them and can be run on either side.

I think that's the right move. You can cut corners on certain things but IMO tires is not one of them. It's the only thing connecting the car to the road. Just my .02.

I have changed left and right tyres many times when uneven wear have occurred. I'm not the only one on trackdays who do this.

As long as it's dry you will be fine.

The pattern is for channeling water, don't worry.

I've ran both R888 and A048 backwards and I haven't felt a thing.

Bailed on the Corsa's. Got them delivered but they looked and felt dry and hard. Also the tread looks too deep to really be a track tire even though that's what tire rack advertises them as.

Found the Toyo's for the front so running them all around.

Hopefully the 'Rack will refund your money and pay to have them shipped back. I am always worried about 'R' compounds sitting around for a couple of years before use.

Yeah it's a crap shoot. I'm using some Hankook Z214 from 2009 that actually have worked great on my E36 believe it or not.

I have no idea on the left/right issue but the Corsa's are a fantastic tire! Super consistent on the track with great grip levels for a street tire. It also does not harden after multiple heat cycles. They are also pretty light.

Good luck!
