How much is freight and PDI in Canada on 2015 M3?

I was reading an Autos.ca article on the 2015 M4 and it stated the freight and PDI was $2,095, I am pretty sure when I was at Brian Jessel in Vancouver 2 weeks ago they had freight and PDI of $2,800 or $2,900 on their 2015 M3. Does anyone know what the actual freight and PDI is in Canada on a 2015 M3? Is the $2,900 Brian Jessel freight and PDI figure just an additional $800 profit they tacked on to the actual standard $2,095 freight and PDI?

The Toronto area dealers charge $2195 for freight & PDI + $100 air tax. There are other crash grabs like $399 admin that are on the bill of sale.

$2995 in Calgary. However some dealers are willing to reduce down to $2095.

So does that mean that the actual "cost" charged from BMW Canada to the dealer for freight and PDI is the $2,095 quoted in the article and the extra $900 is just an extra padded amount the dealer tries to charge to make extra profit? I am just asking because I usually make an offer for the "on the road price" including all taxes and fees and I just want to make sure I know what the dealer's actual cost is.

freight is fixed. Pdi is whatever the dealer wants to charge. If this is excessive, then make a complaint to bmw canada ... or like you said, just offer your OTR number.

I'm in Vancouver and ordered an M3 about 6 weeks ago. The BMW Store, Auto West and Brian Jessel were all asking $2,995 for freight & PDI, claiming this was the normal M-car rate for BC. Park Shore BMW has freight & PDI listed on their car stickers for M3's at $2,495. They are also offering lower doc fees than the other 3 right out of the gate. All of this is negotiable too.

Give Mike Regan a call at Park Shore BMW. I've bought a couple of cars from him and highly recommend him if you're shopping for an M car in Vancouver.

Thanks for all the helpful information everyone! Thanks also Alex for the contact information at Parkshore BMW, I am planning ahead and won't decide on my next car for probably another 12 months but I will contact Mike Regan if I do decide on the M3.

^ that's about right. If comparing to other dealers in the GTA, then it's about $100 more. At least they did not charge you for $100 for full tank of gas and they throw in rubber mats for free. What about license plate transfer fee of $100 at the Quinn Group? Other dealers charge $20

But you paid the vin etching admin fee $300 , that's a rip off indeed.

wow 100 more than normal GTA dealer?

and they charge me $90 fuel cost, $10 license fee, so am i being charged up $200 more on top?

would u please kindly further elaborate on the 'etching admin fee'? i google-ed and it came up with something about the windows serial # match up with the VIN # on your vehicle? and ppl said most of the salesman will claim it as an mandatory cost "must pay".

what about the other owner for m3 or m4?

^ the tricor registration $298 is the VIN etching admin fee. This is a optional item that you can opt out and dealer cannot make you pay for this. If dealer says it's mandatory, then you can tell them you will call OMVIC (Ontario) and report the incident. The dealer will be fined and/or business license suspended (the absolute worst case situation).

My car came from Parkview and I did not have to pay for any of the add ons like etching.I was quite happy with the way my deal was handled. You have to be firm with your salesperson on this stuff.I saw a copy of my M4 invoice and it amazes me how little markup there is on a modern BMW these days compared to when I sold them in the late 80's & early 90's!

This has been in effect for almost 10 yrs now. Nitrogen air is applied the same rule .. if you don't want this, then tell dealer to put in regular air.

well. If the m3/4 has a sticker price of $90K, then 9% is the dealer margin which works out to be around $7500. Then tag on the dealer admin fee of $400, pdi fee of $1100 (which it does not cost the dealer this kind of $ to prep the car ... $400 would be the top end of the cost), bogus fees such as nitrogen air, vin etching. Then there are the floor mats and wheel locks which can amount to $300 range (which used to be included a few years back or you negotiated this to be included in the deal. In all, the minimum take by the dealer is now near $9K. Damn good if the car is not even sitting as inventory thus no need to pay any financing cost to BMW Canada.

btw, from the above, not even counting the monthly/qtrly/annual sales target bonus from factory to dealer directly.

It was under 8% on my car without deducting the advertising fees & dealer association fees that are also charged on the invoice. The M-DCT is invoiced at no markup. The $3900 list price is the invoice cost.I was quite surprised.

From Edmonton here. Bavaria quoted 3495 for freight / pdi. Vehicle was not on lot. Also gave me only 2500 off the vehicle. What do you guys think?

Freight & PDI for Montreal is $2,095 which is the same as quoted when speccing out a car on the BMW Canada website. I checked for Alberta on BMW's site and it still lists it as $2,095 so it looks like they're building extra margin in their "fees ".

Depending on your aggressiveness, you should be able to knock off another $1,000.

If you want to push harder, you can get the full dealer cost report from unhaggle.com (it's free!) and present it to your sales advisor with an offer for a reasonable dealer profit. To give you an idea of the deal you're getting, the dealer markup is 8% and I'd think you'd be able to get 3-4% discount, especially if it's sitting on the lot. MY2015 is almost over anyway.

I won't reveal the details of my deal, but speak with someone at Endras BMW (Mayur, Matthew, or Jay). They should be able to do a lot better than what you have been quoted.

PM me if you want any more details.
