Track wheels size/offset

What size and specs do you guys recommend for an F30 328 for tracking?

I'm currently thinking 18x9.5 ET 35 all around with 245/40/18 is that a good setup?

I'm looking to get 18's because next year I will be purchasing Stoptech ST60 BBKs so I need something that will clear. I'm just not too sure about tire size/width and offset.

I'm sticking with a squared vs staggered setup for the reduced under steer.

Should the rear wheels have a lower offset to push the wheels out more?

I have never tracked my F30 before. Tracked my E90 but that was only once and all the rims/tires and what not was provided at that time.

I'm open for suggestions, any tips appreciated.

Thanks!

245/40-18 is a good tire size choice; plenty of rubber for grip, and common enough that you can find most tires available, and at reasonable prices.

As for wheel size, if you want to go 9.5 square, you will need some additional camber up front (at least -2.0 degrees total to be sure - a few guys here have done it). I went with 9" ET42 wheels (Apex ARC-8) all around, and the fit was good*; there was a bit of room left over for fender clearance, so ~5mm less offset should be OK.

* My fit is slightly different than most, because I installed the OE swivel bearing (camber) hubs, which angle the front wheels inward -0.5 degrees relative to the struts... which means I have about 5mm less clearance to the strut, and more to the fender. So I ended up fitting 10mm spacers up front, and 12mm spacers in back, to make for a verrrry aggressive fit (just barely clearing the fender on full suspension compression).

I have the same Apex Arc8 9x18 ET42 wheels on all 4 corners DVC has

I have them shod with 265/35R18 Hankook RS-3s - requires 5mm spacer on the front to clear the shock. No rubbing anywhere.

A buddy of mine has a 435 Msport did the same setup, but the Hankook's were unavailable so he got Dunlop Direzza star spec, same size. They look to be a little fatter at the section width but still no clearance issues. Both tires are killers at the track/autocross

We both have H&R Sport springs, no camber adjustments.

Yea, most track guys I see with RWD opt to switch to square setups to help dial out the understeer.

Any chance a 18x8.5 ET 35 to 38 offset APEX Wheel with a 245/45-18 will rub on the fronts?

That would be another 7mm pushed out for the ET + another 5mm on each side of tread (likely a little less b/c 275 would be more pinched on 9" rims)

I think you'll have issues in the rear with outer fender clearance - front without spacers would be a big "maybe".

Try it and let us know

Although they have their own issues, I'd probably keep offset the same on all four wheels (one of the benefits of a square setup is ability to rotate tires front to back, which will nearly double the usable life of your tires) and use spacers in the rear if you need to push wheels out.

how much did the H&R Springs lower the car? I want to put 255/35 18 square on mine. I'm running the Dinan springs which lowered the car 3/4"

Thanks

I have the M Sport brakes (basically same as M Performance), which are 370mm in front, and 345mm in back. The front brakes are a tight squeeze into the 18" wheels, so not sure if 380mm would fit.
