Initial drive train roughness - gone.

When I picked up my car at the Welt I noticed quite a lot of noise from the drive train, whining, clanging and clunking mainly from the rear diff. I also noticed some drive train lashes and jolts at low speed.

Now 1000 miles later the car has gone quite and smooth as silk. Everything is like a well oiled swiss machine. The drive train feels very precise and the whole car feels like "cut from one block". I wasn't really concerned or annoyed by the initial roughness since it's quite common in tough machinery but now it really feels like a precision made piece of equipment. Love it.

Oh and the 6 MT smooth as silk with no notichiness almost shifts itself. This is a very good and enjoyable car and did I mention the suspension, brilliant.

the suspension is ridiculous in this car, far exceeded my expectations. the e9x m3 handled really well, and this car is in another league altogether. I cannot wait for my next track day in two weeks

and the manual is epic. if you cant drive this smoothly........well, you're just not a good driver haha

Good to hear

I had similar experiences with my E46 and E92. It seems ///M cars need a little mileage to reach their best. I found that they reach their sweet spot around 20000km (12500mls)

I just noticed a little bit of a less "chunky" shift after the first 250 miles or so. . . Which is totally normal as that's roughly the clutch break in period. As I get to break in a second m3 in about 3 weeks I'll keep you posted on that

Haha I'm slowly adjusting. I go to blip the throttle on most downshifts, get confused because the engine roars up from the tiniest pedal touch (since the car's revving it, not me) and so I slow down my clutch engagement to make sure I'm in the right gear. But by the time I remember about the rev matching, it has timed out, with the clutch partially engaged, so RPMs drop and I jerk around haha. I can tell it will be super easy to drive and will be stupid smooth once I get used to it and learn to just trust the rev match, but this is 10+ years of driving exp I have to erase! I'm slowly getting used to it tho. Only 450 miles down, 750 to go until the real fun begins!

I do have this weird sound, almost like a worn out bearing, if I start engaging the clutch on a downshift when RPMs have dropped to idle so I'm speeding up the engine with speed from the wheels (I can't really think of how to articulate it). I'm hoping it goes away before the 1200 mile service!
