Winter Wheels
So it's starting to get cold in my area, was looking into getting all season tires to replace the summer's. However, I have another car that I will be daily driving during the cold winter months, and planned on only taking the M3 out maybe 2-3 times a month max, only when the roads are dry and free of salt. Is it necessary for me to spend over a thousand $$ to get all season tires when i'll drive the car less than 200 miles over the winter?

If you are driving on dry roads, then no. Your summer tires won't perform well, but they'll be fine to take it out on cold dry roads.

Even in rainy conditions (short commute), you should be okay as well. In SoCal we run Michelin PSS/Hankook RS3s etc ALL YEAR. The 1 or 2 days of heavy rain requires you to drive tentatively, but does not call for an entire new set of tires. I assume the typical 1-2 day commute in SoCal is equivalent to ~200 miles/

I don't think you can compare NJ winters to SoCal winters.
I plan to buy a winter set of wheels/tires and don't even plan on driving in snow. I do plan on driving in 20 and 30 degree weather though, and don't want to do so on summer tires. |

Are you daily driving yours though? because i'll only be driving mine maybe twice a month and it'll be short distances on dry roads but it'll be most likely in 30-40 degree temps
