i started using wheel wax and that stuff works pretty good on keeping brake dust off. I use to have a grey looking wheel by the 2nd day of driving my car but after using this wheel detailer i can go thru a week before the wheel gets as dirty as it use to. Although if you give it a good wipe on the 2nd day you can still see the difference between clean and dirty.

2 coats of PB wheel sealant makes the brake dust come off much much easier.
http://www.autogeek.net/pbws.html

hose them down to get the bulk of the dust off, hit the wheels with a gentle wheel cleaner, then agitate with this brush. piece of cake.

Screw cleaning those OEM brake pads, there is no such thing as clean if u drive the car...One turn around the block and they get dirty...Get some Axxis pads for the front and the Posi eccentrics for the rears and the difference is night and day...

Only I have Alcons..so the brake pads are a bit limited...and I want to stop on a dime.

If your anal about a clean car, which is most of the people in this forum from what i see in the photo threads, the only way to go is change to the pads to ones that produce significantly less brake dust...I for one is anal about a clean car and no doubt had to go this route or loose my sanity for clean rims...Plus my hands are no longer dish pan hands!!!!

It takes me about 3-4 mins per wheel to clean these. I bought a "Quickie" brand wheel brush for the spokes and also use a sponge with a nylon mesh and a flat wheel brush. BTW, I love every minute of it although area around the little bolts can be tough o get at. BTW, I put a coat of Rejex on before I mounted them . It seems to help keep the dust from sticking. Doesn't prevent anything. it just makes it easier to remove.

They are Moven BSrs(Breyton Spirit reps). Cost slightly over $200/wheel. IMHO, very reasonable. I was torn between them and the CSL reps. Was not crazy over the VM 715s but wanted a wheel with a lip. I like the little bolts that give the impression of a 2 piece wheel. Also, I wanted something with a little more pizzaz than the CSls and something that not everyone else was running. I am very pleased with them.

Surprisingly my Volks are pretty easy to clean. I apply the Poorboy's wheel sealant once in a while..but damn that thing is hard to apply as it's in paste form. I bought a Craftsman stool from Sears just so I can sit on while cleaning the wheels, lol.

I visit my local car wash about 1x/week (with the family and career, just not enough time anymore to wash/wax myself unless I want to give up an entire weekend morning ). Anyhow, when I have them wax my car (~ 1x/every 3 months), I also have them slap on a nice coat of "Wheel Wax" (which I bring along with my own wax ...not their Meguire's stuff) every time.

Then when I go through their car wash every week, all the brake dust and dirt just slides right off my VS7s! Really, unless my local car wash is just better than all the others, I'd say the Wheel Wax helps quite a bit as the wheels actually come out sparkling clean; obviously I help the car wash ppl dry ALL the nooks of my VS7s to make sure they're all clean and dry though.

Granted they get dirty again after a couple days of driving, but hey, only a few more days and I'm back at the 15-min. car wash for clean VS7s again.

go with window wheels e.g. beyern 5s and then you get to clean the entire rim all the way through plus the brake system..easier and quicker..

Which Axxis are you running? I ran Hawks on my previous car and dusting was very low, feel was good, but they were noisy. Noisy enough I probably owuldn't buy them again.

Try putting two coats of wheel wax on these suckers and then see how easy your VS7's are to clean.

We all know that the OEM pads blow when it comes to brake dust, but wheel wax actually does help cut down on the build up a little bit and makes it a lot easier to just wash off the dust after a week of driving instead of having to sit there and rub the crap out of your wheels. You have to reapply it every few months though.

BTW, your VS7's look great!

i cant even imagine what a PITA applying and removing wheel wax from those Daytonas would be. I always had a few coats of PB's wheel sealant on my stockers, but Im dreading doing my LMs.

Itll be worth it once its all over, though.

There must be a spray on application for wheel wax that is good enough results. Waxing wheels like LMs is enough to put you in a padded room.

It was definitely a PITA... it took me around 4 hours to put two coats on the front wheels and one on each rear wheel. I think it was worth it though because it will be easier in the long run with washing them every week. Go get to work on your LMs!

I need to get a few coats on my CSL's....they are already proving to be a PITA to keep clean especially w the stock pads. I do have some other pads to put on soon. Hopefully between different pads and a few coats of wheel wax or acrylic jett they will be easier to clean.

Do you guys use a wash mit to clean your wheels or a brush? I've dedicated a dirty wash mitt for my stock wheels but i'm having a harder time w the new wheels due to the smaller areas.
