Just curious what some father's here do for rear headrest TV's?
Obviously the new M3 does not have headrests so what do you guys do for rear entertainment for the little ones?
Would a center console mounted option be the best, would prefer not to drill into the roof liner for good reason! Yes I know this is a performance car but also will be MY daily if I pick one up and for my kids on long road trips, I don't like iPads but prefer a rear screen entertainment system they can watch but not touch. Currently my s4 has a pair of headrest LCD's and they are a godsend on long road trips that surprised even my wife who had her doubts. Looking at my options for the m3 if I pick one up since I need a rear entertainment option.... thanks!

Typically I like Vizualogic but with the lack of headrests in our cars it limits your options. I'm sure you can find one that fastens to the seat although I'd still prefer something that's removable and just attaches an iPad onto it.

Get a cheap tablet. HD fire for 99 bucks. While a headrest tv might look cool and good for video, not much use for it. HD fire can play videos via Amazon Prime and have games. You can set up a hotspot in you car to connect. Not sure if a tethered phone would work though. Might need a 4g hotspot...

Guys, let's not get overly techy here ~ we own 5 iPad's so it's not an issue of mounting a tablet which I have plenty of ideas. I want a fixed LCD screen that kids can watch and plays audio through the car audio but I want to be able to control it.
What I've found with my kids is LCD screen they can watch with no interaction on their part is better than giving them each a tablet with different movies or games blasting. (wife does not want young kids on headphones). So I'm asking for fixed LCD screen solutions that we can play a video source in which we have control over. Normally headrest TV's are easy but not so much in the new m3 sorta like this: http://epautos.com/wp-content/upload...2/P1000637.jpg

I have the same problem at the moment. For now I'm using an iPad with 4g.
I was thinking this... There's a way to code the i drive to play DVDs in motion, no problem there. Is there a way to hook up an external monitor to display what's being shown on the i drive. I'm guessing someone will eventually figure it out.. |

I'm hoping for something that snaps and attaches to the rear section of the armrest so it just sits over the center console hump. I don't want the kids to have access to a tablet while driving and want to control what they are watching.

Going to ask my local stereo shop for some ideas but just bumping this to see if anyone has solutions!
Goal: Have rear video SCREENS for my kids without resorting to a tablet for each one. I want a DVD based system that my wife or I can control from the front. thanks!

We just came back from a road trip with 6 hour driving stints. We simply wedged the iPad between the two front seat resting on the center console. The kids could not access it so we controlled the movie. I also had the sound play on the car's sound system via Blutooth and shifted the F/R bias all the way to the back. Worked well for us.
