Back 2 Back Thermostat Failure 300 miles apart!!!!!! WTF

Just had water pump and thermostat replaced 300 miles ago. Sitting in a drivethru moments ago and the dreaded SES light graced me with it's presence. Thermostat failed again!!!

Anyone have thermostats fail back to back like this?

How can our cars as a whole be so damn magnificent but parts like this cause so many people so much inconvenience?

Just wanted to vent to the internet.

The good news here is that you're likely covered under a warranty on the part.

Hope that's the case since most places warranty repairs.

Sounds like a defective part or maybe the problem isn't what you think it is.

Its the thermostat. 2EF4 code.

I wouldn't be so bothered if the shop was close to my house but it's an hour away!

Either you got a defective part or you have a DIRTY cooling system.

Sounds more like defective.
Just a question but did you do a flush on the coolant system when you had your water pump replaced?

op has warrenty on part so it should be alright.

What causes the failure? Sub contractor suppliers that are cutting cost because BMW and other car companies are squeezing them hard. These same suppliers are also selling outside of BMW at a lessor cost but it is the same part.
BMW is getting a reputation of less than stellar reliability...
