The same thing happened to me when I first setup my iPhone. It was some NBT driver of some kind, or so it appeared. NBT = Next Big Thing, and refers to the latest BMW iDrive hardware and software platform. Anyway, the App Store didn't find the app, but everything still works fine including telephony and media. You may find the same thing to be the case in your situation.

Had the same issue in my 2015 X3. iPhone 6 works with no issues and never downloaded the app. As stated above the app was never found in the app store but haven't had the notification come up again.
