What's the difference between "Read SVT" and "Read ECU" buttons? Some guides use one and some the other.

When I see instructions like:
Change FA (VO) to Remove 5AP & 8S4 from VO
VO Code FEM_BODY Module
Read FA(VO)Activate FA(VO)Read SVTRight-Click ECU & Select Code
VO Code KAFAS2 Module
Read FA(VO)Activate FA(VO)Read SVTRight-Click ECU & Select Code

What exactly am I doing to remove 5AP & 8S4 from VO? And VO Code FEM_BODY Module?
