How do you find out what version of iDrive S/W you have?

As the title says - any idea how I would find out if I have the latest version? - In for a service next week (56 Plate 335d) and not sure if its worth an upgrade to latest version?

There is no 'normal' way for you to find out which software version you have, by 'tinkering' with the car yourself.

Your dealer will be able to tell you, based on the VIN number & service history.

As for software updates, dealers will only update the software under warranty, under certain specific conditions. Have a look here.

Otherwise, you will have to pay for any Progman update you would like, which the dealer feels does not meet the warranty criteria.

All the best.

Top notch info my friend!

This fixes all my problems as well

'E90/91/92/ 93

DVD
Fix CD Run on/Nav Pop up arrows,
many other CCC fixes, may have
Voice Recognition issues
POI Search, colors changed in
display, faster response time'

Will see if I can obtain this version based on the bugs above.

Many thanks

No problem, Jim.

The 'CD run on' & 'No nav arrow pop up' are known issues & they should carry out the update, but will want to 'see' the problems for themselves, beforehand.

Just tell them you are making a complaint & those are the issues.
Take a copy of the SIB info with you & give it to them, if they start talking sh*t.
Works for me every time.

For some reason, whenever they tell me I'm not correct, they always seem to get irritated by the fact that I have evidence to the contrary.

All the best.

I would hate to be a BMW salesman/technician trying to get one over on your Viv
I bet you really enjoy it when they start to squirm

Service Information Bulletins (SIBs) are provided by BMW Germany to dealers worldwide, on an ongoing basis.

They provide information about specific vehicle model update requirements, including software (Progman) upgrades which may be necessary as part of the update.

All the best.
