Another 335d with ACS springs :)

Well thanks to Lorcan and Menzies BMW in Stirling I had some ACS springs fitted to my 335d yesterday, so I thought I'd share my first impressions...

Despite not yet having chance to run it down my favourite stretch of road I've still done 200 miles since they were fitted, including 80 today with my wife and 4 month old daughter in the car, so have had a good chance to weigh up the difference they have made.

My conclusion for anyone else weighing up getting them done is to bite the bullet - there is no downside. I was prepared for the ride being a bit firmer - to my mind it isn't - if anything the ride seems better than before! Speed bumps don't result in the previous bunny hop at the rear when the dampers are in comfort mode and even on the straights the ride seems better controlled.

In terms of the upside there is significantly less roll through the corners or around roundabouts. That 'loose' sensation the car had previously has gone, with much improved turn-in. The car previously had a tendency to lurch on swift direction changes and that now seems to have gone, whilst I would also say there is more feel to the steering. So generally just a lot more fun to drive

Very happy - now just have to resist any temptation to go for the ACS engine tune...

Makes you wonder why BMW didn't fit similar springs in the first place!

Because they don't have this guy on their team:

Manfred "Manny" Wollgarten. He personally tests and sets up all our suspension kits to be as good as they can be.

Approx. £680 all in, including fitting and wheel alignment - well worth it

Getting mine done at Menzies in Stirling tomorrow. Ridiculously excited. I'll pass on the positive feedback.

I think it has been mentioned elsewhere, but what is the official drop in height (front/back) for ACS springs fitted to an X-drive with adaptive suspension?

Most insurers have now got pretty understanding about mods and it never makes so much difference that the cost becomes in any way an issue. The most annoying thing is when they charge you admin fees for the privilege of telling them it's been modified.

The engine upgrade for 335d to 360hp is £2729.95 inc VAT:

http://shop.ac-schnitzer.co.uk/perfo...rom-4092-p.asp

The springs are £269.55 less 10% forum discount = £242.60.

Will the engine upgrade make the car hit 62 mph in about 4.5 secs?.
