I've just bought my first F30 and bmw online doesn't connect to my phone even though I e enabled hotspot and it shows ticked in data transfer.
I also tried my partners phone and still no joy.
Music and messages work fine.

What am I missing

Not sure if I have fully understood, but I believe BMW Online uses the inbuilt SIM card in the car. You have to activate your connected drive account in order to use it. Can be done over the phone or online.

Thanks for that as I saw it asked for username and password.
I will ring bmw dealership tomorrow.
Will they give me a username etc or do I have to pay something.

May take a day or two, but they should text you the user name and password. The first 3 years from new is included. After that it costs £120pa, I think.
