Running Costs and some history

I don't know if this will help somebody. I have had my F30 320d Sport for exactly 18 months now and being a little bored today I have worked out the running costs during this period.

My calculations are for the servicing, tyres and fuel only and do not include depreciation, insurance or the road fund licence.

A little background. The car was a BMW AUC purchased by my employer in May 2013 and was showing 855 miles at collection. I have based these calculations on the 61223 miles I have driven to the last fuel stop.

Fuel purchased: £7063.99 (102 fill ups)
Servicing: £993.77 (3 services)
Tyres: £966.98 (5 x 18" Pirelli P7's)
Misc: £23.49 (Puncture repair and a side lamp bulb)
Total cost: £9048.23 or 14.7 pence per mile (11.5ppm for fuel 3.2ppm for servicing).

Some fuel stats: Best tank was 781 miles which was 65.0 mpg, worst tank was 48.8 mpg with the cars average being 53.7 mpg. My average miles between the 102 fill ups has been 600.2 miles.

As well as the 3 services which also included warranty work the car has visited the dealer 5 other times for warranty work and has been off the road for about 5 weeks in total. This was mainly for the steering knock which BMW denied was a problem until they fitted the updated rack a few weeks ago. They must have spent hundreds maybe even thousands on this issue with all the various suspension components they replaced.

Also due to radio interference the car has had a new radio head unit, aerial amplifier and aerial coax cable and it has also had 5 software updates for the this issue and a connectivity issue with my ipod. The interference problem is still not resolved but has improved and I can live with it now.

I have also had the fan noise, a buzzing noise from the headlining area on the drivers side and a vibration from the n/s/f door.
