KW Clubsport 2 Way - Reviews

Hello everybody,

i have been reading here for a little bit of time and ordered my M4 last Friday.
In my opinion this forum here is the most informative one by far - therefore i joined from Germany and need some input from you guys.

Does somebody here drive a M4/M3 with the KW Clubsport 2Way and give me some feedback how it behaves on regular/ bad roads and on the track. I have been using one in my current 135i and had some problems with vibrations.

Thank you already.

All the best,
Marcel

I have both - KW CS and M4

I really love it and make the car handle so good!
As I also use my M4 as daily driver for me the setup is still ok. For sure the car is very stiff, but still ok for me.

You will love it - great performance and the CS fits perfect to the M4!

Installed them Friday. Very firm indeed. Still need to properly set up corner weights / ride heights

The set came out of INDs sema car so all the settings were mad aggressive. Cambers set to -3

Ride height slammed to the bottom on the fronts etc

I like them after setting compression down a little and will revise some settings again Wednesday

Thanks for sharing your first impressions - looking forward to hear more from you after the right setup - which is key in my opinion

Thanks for the assistance Sam. I've since also adjusted my tyre pressure to 2,2bar which were at 2,6bar before. Makes sensitivity much less.

Now I'm feeling better. Also trying out some new wheel alignment settings c/o illia at IND

Front:
Front camber you can raise to -2 no problem. This will help turn in and won't significantly affect tire wear.

Toe, if you want less tire wear leave at 0, if you want slightly better steering response you can adjust to a touch toe out, within OEM specs.

Rear:
Leave the rear camber at -1.5 or so.

Toe is the same idea- if you want good tire wear, leave it at zero (at the expense of stability). If you want some extra stability mid-corner, give the car a hair of toe in, within OEM specs.

If you're more into an aggressive stance, get the KW CS.
If handling is more important to you, Olhins Road and Track, more compliant and smoother ride, minimal drop and better dampening capabilities than the KW CS.

Not interested in stance only handling

I want the car to be able to deal with daily speed bumps etc and handle like my 911's 😉

Well changing the coilovers certainly isn't going to make it handle like a 911 lol

But I can say after a month from purchasing my F80 I swapped out the spongy shocks for the KW CS 2ways and I have never looked back. And have since driven half way across the country and back...twice, and the wife doesn't seem to notice a bad ride so there is a win right there. Makes you feel more comfortable taking the car to limit, makes the car feel more nimble and gives you more confidence around a bend in the road. I love mine and yes I have to take speed bumps slow, but who flies over them anyways?!

Sounds great i was worried that it would be too harsh to use on the road but you have answered my query

Does it feel like the traction has improved ?

IE is the power easier to put down or does it still spin up very easily

Also if you go over a hump in the road does the back of the car settle immediatley or does it still pogo ?

Not sure if traction has improved but i can say the tires do feel more connected to the road.

The whole car settles after a bump (it doesn't bounce at all, but also depends on the rebound settings), these are not cheap coils and are meant to dampen after a bump....IE track rumble strips. I do know the "pogo" effect you are talking about, I have a buddy with 500$ coilovers on a 350z.

Sounds good

I was not referring to the pogo effect from the KW rather the standard M set up sadly has the pogo effect

Ohlins may ride better on the street but KW Clubsports are a superior handling package and hardly designed for "stance". KW is a more track oriented with stiffer spring rates, camber plates, adjustments, etc.

I daily my F80 with Clubsport 2-ways and I find that the ride is more than adequate. Depending on what generation 911 you are referring to it is not unreasonable to expect this platform to handle as good or better than a 911. With that being said, I have tracked a 2017 991.2 S with rear steering and that car would absolutely destroy just about any modified F8X. The 991.2 S is sublime.

Very nice. If you aren't planning to track much the reviews of the Ohlins seem to be very good.

Yes i am swaying toward the Ohlins set up

RE the GTS 991 yes a lovely car but sold it as i wanted a M4 again

The power of the m4 and the torque was far superior and now in comp edition with MPE i also have a great noise

The other factor was the technology of the m4 was much better

The only thng i have to improve is the handling and specifically the damping of the BMW
