New Member......New Car!!!

Hi All,

Thought it was about time I actually registered and join in on all the F3x banter!

Have been reading various posts from you guys over the last month or so and the forum has been an excellent port of call to get ideas. There is a “downside” to all this though as I now want/would like certain mods on my new car (when it arrives…..hopefully towards the end of December).

Ordered the car about 3 weeks ago and have been informed by my dealer that the car is being built WK49 with delivery for WK52.

I’m sure everyone wants to know the spec and here it is:

F30 330d M Sport sDrive
Sapphire Black
Oyster Dakota (wanted Merino inc dash but was told this would be at least another 8 week wait)
Fineline Anthracite Wood Trim
Prof Media Pack
M Sport Plus Pack
Visibility Pack
Interior Comfort Pack
Advanced Parking Pack
HUD
Online Entertainment
Elec Folding Mirrors
Memory Seats
Lumber Support
Heated Front Seats
Sliding Armrest
Speed Limit Display
Adaptive Suspension
VSS

………don’t think I’ve missed anything off.

As for the mods: have already got a price from the dealer for a PPK along with the M Performance body kit.

Have also spoken to Lorcan - who has been very helpful - a couple times over the phone about ACS springs and an exhaust. Will definitely be getting the springs done but not sure about the exhaust yet. I did like what DTP1980 did with his 335d and wouldn’t mind doing something similar but have a dual exit rather than a single like his. However, not sure what that would mean from a warranty perspective.

Looking forward to the car arriving – can’t wait!

Would love to get comments/advise from you seasoned F3x owners.

Welcome to the forum! Nice spec

I have similar plans for the exhaust. If you take the back box off then there isn't really anything left to break, so not sure what the warranty concern would be?

Cheers Bud.

Would have loved a sunroof but didn't think it was worth it.....now if it were a panoramic like the touring then that box would have got ticked most definitely.

Why don't they do a pano roof for the F30?!

Gonna get the service pack added on before I pick up as I aim to keep the car for while.....have had the current E46 320d for 10 years.

Not sure about Winters but was contemplating a set of Michelin PSS's. Has anyone on here gone up a size on those to 235 fronts & 265 rears or have you kept to the stock sizes of 225/255?

I have those tyres but stuck to standard sizes. I think the Alpinas run with them, and I'm guessing the ACS wheels too, but they will run a slightly wider rim and more aggressive offset too.

So does that then mean should I decide at some point in the future to upgrade my alloys to something a little more aggressive - I like the concave look - I can still use the stock 225/255 tyres?

You probably could, but I meant that the wider tyres you mentioned are what the Alpina uses, but on wider rims. 1cm isn't going to make too much difference really

Have been looking online for a set of PSS's. Best price I've come across so far is £673 for a set. That's with 235/35/19 on the front and 265/30/19 for the rears. It's from a company called Love Tyres and they're based in Hayes which is round the corner from the dealership where I've bought the car. Handy!

So maybe, pick up the car, drive over to the tyre place and get the new rubbers fitted

Looks like a great spec. The Oyster leather will really brighten up the interior.

Have you considered a heated steering wheel? At £155 extra it's not a significant addition compared to everything else and I find mine compliments the heated seats perfectly.

Also, you could consider Surround Cameras? I don't have them but wish I did.

Hope this helps!

+1 for heated steering wheel and surround cams.

I considered not going for Dakota Black seats but having seen them in a showroom, they still look good. Last time I tried an Audi, black seats with a black interior looks miserable, but same combo in F30 is classy.

I did originally spec the the Surround View but then took it off as not sure how useful it would be on a smaller car like the F30 - something like an X5 or the 7 series you would probably want it on them.

As for the heated steering wheel, at £155, it might be worth putting on. Any of you other guys got the heated wheel and what say you?!

If you can afford it add the sunroof. Although it isn't a pano one you still get a great sense of the open air when on a B road blast on a lovely day or night. I have mine open when ever I can even it's it's cool just bang the heated seats on.

Even though you have the Oyster Leather the other thing the sun roof does is lighten up the interior tremendously as you can have the sun shade open even when the roof is closed so it becomes a tinted roof window.

Well worth it for the money.

Can't help with the winters as when the weather gets gnarly I switch to the Defender (or the just purchased second hand Shogun) as I not only want to get to where I am going but get there without some tool on summers piling into the F30.

I don't use surround that often but when I do it's very useful.

Heated SW, again you don't need but I know from previous car and living in Yorkshire, I will get on future cars and it's dirt cheap.

Looks like you're going to have one hell of a vehicle there.
Hope you don't have to wait as long as some, due to an M Sport brake shortage.
I went for the surround cam, and after having a 520 tourer for a month without them, I'm glad I did.
