Repainted rear fender - 3M film goes on when??
A kid threw a rock on my car when having a tantrum on my street when I happened to be in the car. Now the car is back from repair. Looks nice but the 3M stone chip guard vinyl is NOT mounted. The BMW dealer said it goes on after 2 months. But winter is soon here with sand/gravel etc. I bet it is a reason for the protection. How shall I act? Having them garage my car for the time and give me a loaner or is it possible to temporarily put on a more permeable vinyl that wears out faster and then put on the real stuff?
I want the surface to be 100% when the 3M vinyl goes on......

You want to make sure the paint has off-gassed as completely as possible...I'd wait as long as I could.
Sorry to hear about the incident. That's incredibly frustrating!
