Black Friday

Today was a bad day. Had to rush a close relative to hospital and then the below happened:

(1) Kerbed a quarter of the rim of the nearside front wheel again whilst parking in a tight spot.

(2) Discovered a dent on the bonnet along the crease line. No broken paint. I am sure it was not there when I collected my car from its first service yesterday. Or did it happen when BMW washed my car? Lord only knows.

Revive will come and fix the wheel through my Wheel Insurance. BMW will get their PDR person to try and remove dent on Thursday 20th Nov. If they can't, I'll go to The Dentman, Martin Leach.

Really upset. I wonder what the third thing will be?

Could the dent have been caused by someone pushing the bonnet down? (ie the trainee service centre guy?), you'd expect the paint to be chipped if a stone caused it (and maybe not on the top?)

At least you did your civic duty and got someone to a hospital, as brigand said keep your car off the road this weekend! (crap weather coming as well)

Thanks all.

Really upset. The wheel damage is my fault. Funny thing is I am not quite sure where it really happened. Exiting the Hospital Car Park which has a horrid curved road with high kerbs or parking at home. Will be fixed next week.

But it is the dent on the bonnet which is really upsetting. That did not happen today. It had to be yesterday or last night. I am sure I would have noticed it when I collected the car. It is right across the crease line, driver's side near the end of the bonnet, windscreen end and it is difficult to get to from underneath due to the double skin. But there are some removal rubber grommets for the PDR man to push his tool through. BMW seem to think he can sort it. Let's see.

The most important thing is your relatives health.

I hope it is good news.

Always upsetting when these things happen to ones car.

HOWEVER, the car can be fixed.

Thanks.

Been in and out of the hospital for the past 4 weeks due the very close relative's health problems. Really worried and shattered.

I knew this would somehow happen today. As you say car can be fixed. At least the wheel can. The bonnet I am not too sure. Will know next week.

Hope you get them both sorted soon. The good news is you have forsaken the beautiful M403's for exactly this issue. You are now justified for having bought painted wheels.

The dent will be massaged out with no trace, these smart repair guys are brilliant.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the heads up. Your support makes it a bit more bearable.

The last 4 weeks have been a living hell with all the health issues of my close relative. The saga continues as they still don't know what is wrong after tons of tests, 2 weeks in hospital, etc, etc.

Yes, NISFAN, it is good I got painted wheels. It is always the front nearside that I keep kerbing. I had a premonition this would happen today. I am dreading the R's diamond cut alloys.

Regarding the bonnet dent it is right above the double skin of hinge attachment. The bonnet is a real solid bit of work unlike the flimsy Golf. BMWs are well made, too well made when there is a dent to remove!

Monday for the wheel, Thursday for the bonnet. Hopefully car will be back to near perfect. Annoying thing is, car was A OK but dirty before I took it for a service! Again, I had a premonition that something had to go wrong.

that's a pretty shit day

Mine comprised of some stupid bind smashing her door into mine without an apology, and then about 15 mins later, an old guy ramming his trolley into the rear bumper. Luckily don't seem to have suffered any damage, god knows how!

That sucks! I had a big chunk of chip board come off a truck on the motorway and whack the front bumper, scuffed the paint on the lower lip below the intercooler where it went under the car, right back to the plastic on the lip. Then the left headlight started flickering on and off, like a ballast on it's way out. Then the M25 was closed when I needed to get to Reigate for 8am.

Thank you all for the support. Most appreciated.

Relative is getting better but still not out of the woods. Still a bit of a worrying situation. Appt with Consultant tomorrow.

The exit road from the hospital car park caused the wheel damage as there is a sharp bend which is so difficult to negotiate. I'll use part of the entrance lane to exit tomorrow!

Thursday morning for the dent on the bonnet. Hope they can get to it with their tools. Thursday afternoon to get the wheel fixed.

All fixed today. Normal service has resumed.
BMW's PDR guy from Master Dent did a perfect job as did Scott Gosbell of Revive on my wheel. Had to spray the whole wheel.

Nice to have the car as good, if not better, than new.

Relative: Very slow improvement. Probably been over medicated. Back to hospital as in-patient for 3 days for observation and tests as they still don't know why the illness came on. The doctors are foxed! Full body scan, more blood tests etc. The NHS has been incredible. Gets own room, with toilet, flat screen TV, DVD Player, Wi-Fi, view of Chelsea Harbour, a la carte menu which includes smoked salmon and brilliant nursing care.

Thanks for asking. Much appreciated.

Was this Chelsea and Westminster Hospital? I almost never scrape my wheels, but the entrance there got me badly many years ago. There is something slightly deceptive about the curve from memory, or perhaps I just wasn't paying close enough attention.

Yes, Chel West Hosp. The exit from the car park has the horrid bend which after many safe exits eventually got me also! Shocking car park. Car park is too tightly packed. I was so stressed that day and was not paying attention. Then I discovered the dent on the bonnet. Friday 14th Nov was a horrid day.
