Another F80 crashed while tracking at NJMP

Pics of wreck posted on High Octane South Jersey website.
https://www.facebook.com/HighOctaneSouthJersey

Looks like a NY has 1 less F80 driving around.
Heard the driver walked away.

There's a gopro stuck on the roof of that F80.... Is it morbid to want to see the video?

I want to see it too. Who ever that was, post it, and say it was a friend who did it to it!

I think we should impose self-censorship of such photographs and news, unless explicit permission was given from the owner of the vehicle. There are many implications both at the club level and more so at the driver level that it is worth not sensationalizing this type of unfortunate news.

I agree... Somewhat...

However you can't stop the rain from falling.

Specifically, groups like " high octane south jersey who posted not only photos of the loss but also didn't even bother to block any ID on the vehicle.

People will wreck these cars on the street and track. And reminders that this is an extremely powerful car and that things can go quickly awry, even in a controlled environment are good for us all.

Keep it safe out there folks, and keep MDM on until you really know the car well...

Only temporarily. Car looks to easily be repairable. Hope another car was not involved.

That's the catch 22. It is not possible to get to know the car well with MDM (or DSC) on.

Plot twist, instructor was driving.

Tow hook license plate mount because they didn't want to drill holes in the bumper cover.

I was at that event. No instructors as it was for advanced drivers only. It was really cold that day (high in the 40's), so you really couldn't get heat into the tires and it was pretty slick. Front of car took a big hit and dropped a lot of oil on the track. The story I heard (not first hand, but the aftermath matched the story), was that the driver breathed off the throttle mid-corner, lost the back end of the car coming onto the main straight and nosed it into the inside guardrail.
I felt bad for the driver, but he walked away okay.

Agreed with both above, especially because the license plate can be seen clear as day.

I'm willing to bet the owner / driver of the car is somehow associated w/ High Octane and knows that it's on their fb page. It's their content, if they don't care why should we or the mods here care?

Of course it's always in poor taste and never a good idea to post these kinds of thing on the internet but it sure does seem like they don't care, it's been there for days at this point.

I read the post and realized this was an Intermediate to Advanced event and no instructors were there, it was a joke.

I always believed that if you're tracking the car and are that concerned about being discovered, you'll either tape up the plate or remove it. Especially in today's day and age where everything seems fair game for posting to the internet.

While I agree with you about taking the proper steps to avoid trouble, some people should have the decency not to just throw it up online.

It's publicly available on the event Facebook page. Why should it be deleted from here? In the event of a fatality it may have been disrespectful to the family ... but in this case I don't see anything wrong.

Most people share the same sentiment as you, until it's their car.

If I were concerned about my privacy (at a public event, on a public racetrack), I would have at least removed my street license plates? Still not making the connection.

Lol that topic has already been discussed. I agree with you, but it doesn't make it right.
