Rubber Inflation Valves (Amended)

Hi
Just noticed today after looking at another f30 I have rubber valves on my 2013 403's, the other F30 2014 had aluminium valves also on 403's, should mine be aluminium. Also have 0001's if that makes any difference.

I do get pressure sensor information ie it comes up on the dash if the pressers are uneven. can I retro fit to the aluminium when I change tyres and will this then give me individual pressure in each tyre.

Thanks

Yes from April 2014 the full TPMS system is fitted with sensors in the aluminium valve stems. Prior to that the ABS sensors were used.

Been asked a few times recently and the consensus is no - it can be coded but theres no receiving modules or wiring so would throw an error.

I bought a March 2014 registered 330d and found out later it was *manufactured* a month or two earlier. I only found this out after a bought a set of 400m wheels with the new TPMS valves in them they will be in the classified section in the next few weeks when I have fitted my new winter tyres to the 400m's.

My winter tyres don't have the aluminium valves. Are they easy/cheap to get fitted? Will the car display an error if I don't fit them?

If your car has TPMS then with the winter wheels you'll get a warning come up in the idrive screen every time you start the car. It just takes one press of the controller to dismiss it so up to you if that'll be annoying enough to warrant £200+ for a set of sensors.

Although, if your winter tyres are RFT then by law you need to have some sort of flat tyre warning!

In my experience, never mind the legal aspects, you really need a warning because otherwise you just won't notice. I had a RFT warning on my old car and the tyre looked the same as all the rest, so much so that I didn't believe the warning at first. Then I measured it and found it was completely unpressurised.

As I don't have the sensors does anyone know if there is a way to code the car to use the old ABS method my 2012 car uses? I've looked through the cheat sheets but can't see anything.

What is it you want to code? Your car has the basic flat tyre warning system, to get full TPMS you have to add the module, sensors, receivers in each wheel arch and cabling.

Yes, use the same winter wheels/tyres I already have from last year but the new car will have TPMS. Sorry I wasn't clear.

Stupid question, but is the valve cap part of the system?? I recently had a puncture repaired and they just fitted the standard rubber cap... I haven't noticed any error messages so I'm guessing its not important, just doesn't look as good!!

As you picked up your car on 1st March 2014 it probably doesn't have TPMS.
