Mod bargains rip off!
So mod bargains has a bumper for $400, they create a Black Friday "sale" in which they create a separate item number, mark up the original price, and then mark up the discount! They can't be serious

WOW ahaha I know many retailers use this tactic around SALE and holiday seasons, so it's nothing new. But you certainly have caught them red handed LOL.

I think this just makes companies look bad when they use these scammer type tactics....makes me not want to buy anything there....but I guess competition and the markets change from time to time which may give them no choice to look bad when they do this.
What do you guys think? Sorry if I'm thread jacking but this is kinda on point!! |

I received a quote from them for wheels and tires which was $400 more than BavarianX's quote. They had a price match guarantee at the time. Out of curiousity I asked for the match, the agent went on some speel about how much overhead they have and they are a legitamite company and so on. I would never order from a company who doesn't stand by their own policies. Would never consider them for anything. This cheap trick that many companies use doesn't suprise me. Good catch.

I had bought couple of things from them plus my wheels 2 hrs back.
They gave me the best price and the customer service was really good. East coast vendors could not beat their price. Sad to see if they really doing this kind of thing. I will definitely like to send them a mail and ask for clarification. |

How ironic...
A couple years ago when I was looking for a Cobb AP on black friday, Top Gear Solutions did something similar. Instead of their usual free shipping at the time, they marked up the shipping to something like $50 for the Cobb to offset the "discount". I ended up buying from Mod Bargains instead...hah. I wrote something in the vendors section and apparently TGS saw my post because here is the part of a PM from TGS that tried to explain what happened. "At that time we posted a significantly low price on the cobb with a high shipping cost to offset that low price point. (something similar to what you would see on ebay). We hoped that would atleast get people to check out our site. No harm no foul as together with the exponential shipping cost it was still a great deal." He started the PM by saying he wanted to "clear things up", but the truth is there was no confusion in the first place. Any business can price their products and shipping however they see fit. Understood. It doesn't mean customers will appreciate it, and if they don't they can share their opinions however they see fit (just like businesses setting prices) as long as facts are presented. Either way, just wanted to give the OP a +1 on pointing this out. I appreciate this kinda stuff.

Mod bargains uses some odd pricing even for their labor. They have brake flush listed on their website for $50 so I contacted them to bring it in and was told that they would also charge me for the brake fluid separately for 3 full bottles or even 4 at about $17 per bottle....I knew it was too good to be true and glad I checked. Also for the same job since they would have to remove all wheels I asked for a quote on installation of fog bulbs and turn signal bulbs and he quoted me about another 1.5 hours at $150 to change bulbs out while it was gonna be up on lifts and wheels off for liner access. It was so ridiculous I simply did not respond when they asked if I could come in at 8:00 am on Saturday and went to an indy. $30 extra to have bulbs done while fluid flush was being done for $70 including fluid..I probably will never buy or have anything done there again.

I can only say i've bought a ton of stuff from them. And it's been nothing but great. I'm a little disappointed the wheel I bought last week is now on sale. But it's only a few dollars. I dunno. I like dealing with them.

And there is another reason why they are banned from this site.
... They had some people there that were scamming people's credit cards. That place is a joke and I would never buy from there. They do a good job at marketing themselves as a "top" company, but if they were, they would still be a sponsor on this website.

I had nothing but amazing service and support.
when I crashed my e92 they shipped bumpers and all needed hardware in under a week from the moment I contacted them. everything fit perfectly and didn't have 1 single mishap. Its a shame when people go and start talking bad about a company and have never actually delt with them. They were super nice and diligent. Then again bimmerpost has a tendency to be biased and behave a lot like the SS...

I decided to see for myself and sure enough, there is more to every story… A few things I found: The prices have since changed from $414.xx and $449.xx respectively. My first thought was that they saw this thread and tried to correct their error. At that point, I decided to add each bumper to my cart (separately). -The “Black Friday” bumper applied a coupon code that yielded an ADDITIONAL $40 off. Now I realize that $374.99 isn’t exactly a Black Friday caliber deal, but it is cheaper than the prices in the op’s screen shot. On an unusual note: the shipping prices varied only $1 with the Black Friday bumper being $1 more expensive ($130 for shipping). Long story short $25 off isn’t even 10% off, but it’s not exactly justification for accusing a company of being a “Rip Off.” |
