M-Sport caliper blue paint chipping

Anybody out there noticed any chipping of the blue paint on their brake calipers?
The reason me asking is the that on three of my calipers the paint is chipped.
Could this be due to 'wear & tear', stones thrown up from the road or the BMW Main dealer, when changing my wheels over, from summer to winter, last week?
I am inclined think that its due to careless wheel changing.
Am rather annoyed as those blue calipers do look rather nice in my eyes and to see them chipped!

Without seeing a picture it's hard to say but I'm inclined to think wear and tear. Not sure how changing wheels is going to chips the calipers?

I'll get a pic tomorrow, but on one calliper there are about 3 or 4 chips close together. To be honest it dosn't look like wear & tear. It look more like a little brute force & ignorance by a wheel or tool mishandled.
Have done about 25k miles.

Exactly I just can't see how something big enough to chip could get in there between the alloy wheel spokes? Have you had a tyre change in that mileage?

The weather is much better today and have been able to take a couple of pics.
The front offside calliper has 3 or 4 chips close together, the other 3 callipers 1 or 2 each.
All the chips appear on convex surfaces.
I don't think it is wear & tear, but I stand to be corrected.

That looks like bad fitting of the wheels to me.

Pleased to advise that the BMW Main dealer had agreed to take the car back in next week for a paint job.
They said that the fitter was surprised that he had knocked the callipers!
I showed them what us amateurs use to obviate problems like this:-
The ww.ReverseLogic.us: 'Lug Bolt Guide Tool'. Very nicely made in stainless steel.
What I used on my previous E90's.
Made life much easier to locate the wheel relative to the hub.
Hell! They are supposed to be professionals!

Sounds about right for a main dealer.
I have no confidence in them at all.
I had two wheels damaged on my E91 by some muppet not knowing how to take a wheel off.

Here is a pic of the Lug Bolt Wheel Guide I use to use with success on my E90's.

Sad to say that the BMW Main dealer has not offered to 'Smart' paint the Blue M-Sport Brake callipers which they chipped (all four) when changing the wheels over from summer to winter.

It is now over a week since they said they were 'looking into it', but now they are not answering emails or returning 'phone calls.

So, the message is, if a BMW Main dealer chips your blue M-Sport brake callipers whilst working on the car, it is at the owners risk. Be warned!

This is the third 3-Series I have purchased from new and I am now beginning to think that possibly for my next buy I should be looking at a different marque.

My Wife has always liked the Porsche Cayman, so I am 50% there! The only prob I have, is shopping with it at the Sainsbury car park. I don't really want to buy a 2nd car just for shopping!

I have found with my local BMW Main Dealer, it is a series of ups & downs. It all runs smoothly for a while, then something happens.
i.e. ordered the wrong part - a wasted journey or forgetting to up date the hard drive with an oil change - a special journey to fix. etc etc

So I might well be calling it a day with a BMW, however much I like them.

Not sure for an F30, but if you look on the www.ReverseLogic.us website it is all there. They are nice people to deal with.
I ordered also with the M12 x 1.5-ss for an E90, the jacking pads which they supply. They are all of good quality and do the job!

Am pleased to say that the BMW Main Dealer, as a good will gesture, has agreed to take the car in next week to make good the blue callipers.
This is good news indeed!
You cannot drive around in chipped blue callipers can you?

So it looks as if my next new car will be a BMW after all!
PS Didn't really want a Porsche!

If they chipped the caliper, then no doubt the alloy will also be damaged. I would get them to have a look at that also with you there!

I collected the car at the Main Dealer after the paint job and they have done a very good job! In fact as good as new!
However, there was one snag. The day before I took the car in I asked if they could arrange for their courtesy car to give me a lift into the town centre.
They replied only if I paid for the rectification work. They actually said that the courtesy car is not available for rectification work due to technician error.
Unbelievable!
I had 'words' with higher management and they back tracked!
I got my courtesy ride into town!

I work for Audi, and their level of service is certainly higher than BMW's when it come to Aftersales. If you damage a customers car, you do what ever it takes to rectify the situation!
