Change yer spark plugs!
2009 E90 LCI, 87K miles
I assume these are the original plugs. Kinda says something about the coil packs that they (mostly) put up with it. Had a little misfire issue when I really romped on it getting on the freeway a few days ago. Cleared itself in few hundred feet, but I was figuring coil pack. Now I'm thinking that the coil packs are okay, but didn't like jumping across .080" under heavy load. I've never seen a stock plug worn like that. This is #1, but they are all in similar shape. New Iridiums and coil packs today. Smoother, zippier; what's not to like? The old coils are being stashed away. Ken... |

BMWs are kinda preppy, aren't they... Maybe not as much as Saabs were, but Saab's gone now so BMWs will have to do.

It appears there is some question about the old plug being original to the car, or OEM.
Here are four additional images of the plug in the top post of this thread. Note, in particular, the part number stamped in the fourth image; PLZFR6A-11S. Below are screenshots from NGK's website. The first shows a listing of the plugs NGK makes for the car. Note here the "#" next to PLZFR6A-11S, and that it references the footnote, "# Original Equipment Manufacturer, and/or Original Equipment Service Part" I did not use the Platinum OE part, PLZFR6A-11S. I opted for the Iridium IX, part number LFR6AIX-11. It is an equivalent plug to the Platinum OE part, and $3.49 per plug less expensive. Hope this helps. Ken... |
