Damaged before handover

After a 14 week wait that seemed like an eternity i went to my dealers to pick up my 430d M Sport, first problem the rear m diffuser ordered was twisted and couldnt be fitted by the BMW body shop fitters. (new one on order should be with them Monday) second blow came when i get told that someone moving a cage of winter wheels has scratched the nearside rear bumper. Boy am i pissed.
Although i drove the car away i am having to return it next week to have the new diffuser fitted and the scratch removed.
Loving the 624 wheels, gonna try to use them for at least a month then i can put on the 405 winter set.
Hope this isnt a sign of things to come but at least i am now an official Bimmer owner and i can change my status yaaaay.

I once collected a new 520d that had a paint run on the driver-side wing that could not be polished out (I assume it had been damaged in transit or at the dealers and had a poor respray). I wanted to reject the car but the dealer said my A4 that I was part exchanging would lose value if drove away in the car I had arrived in! Bizarrely, they were happy for me to drive away in the new 520d, use it for a few weeks and then deliver to my home a brand new same spec 520d, this time in perfect condition. They took away the 520d that I had collected on the back of the truck they brought my replacement 520d on.

As your circumstances are similar to mine, could you request a new car?

I am happy enough to have the bumper repaired as i am more than happy with the rest of the car. It's more a rant than anything else.

Hope you enjoying the car. But you would have thought they would have ordered the diffuser in with plenty of time and inspected it prior to fitment and handover thereby giving them selves enough time to get a replacement etc

Unless it was a last minute decision to get one on your part.

My dealer told me some poor guy watched as the transporter crushed the roof on his new M3 when it was delivered, pretty sure they got him a new one

The diffuser was ordered with the car in august, which makes it even harder to swallow. They painted and tried to fit it but the buckle is so slight it wasn't noticable until then.

Once the repair is complete and the diffuser is fitted i will post some photos

I've heard variants of that story from more than one dealer! Must be an old chestnut apocryphal tale!
