Had a quick drive in one last week, very nice, and the owner was absolutely besotted with it.

Stunning bit of kit, unfortunatley the lease costs are disproportionally higher in proportion to the extra in list price. Lack of discounts etc.

I do like that, and strangely, the Alpina parts work better on the 4 series to me.

Tis a shame Alpina don't do engine only upgrades on BMW models. I would have that drivetrain in a 4 series M Sport for example for a £5k premium over a 435d........Goddamit BMW why don't you just make an M340d?

I love that forced turbo sound it makes

In my head my car is the Alpina D3x! Or just about as good as in the areas that count.

Same for me - why no M440d as well? Fastest diesels all made for non-enthusiast drivers and handle dismally. Why, why, why BMW? Please, build some more driver's cars, soon.

I don't think my car handles dismally. Far from it.

I believe the reference is to the top engined 335d/435d cars, which come with 'un-sporty' xDrive suspension calibration.

But even beyond that, as someone who has fitted an aftermarket solution that has improved things no end, I can honestly say "you ain't felt nothing yet!"

This, in my opinion, is the best looking Alpina. And, to my eye, better looking than an M Sport F32.

I would still have an M3/4.

I don't think it's a problem with xdrive. My car handles no worse than my old E90 330d (in fact better, if I'm honest). The problem in my opinion is weight. The higher end diesels are far to heavy to be "sporty". They are cruisers, not gocarts.
