Would you trade?
The guy who sold me my car ('06 325i, 20K miles, electric red with beige leatherette, Sport package, steptronic, power seats & SIRIUS), has this car up on eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-3...QQcmdZViewItem He's willing to trade with me for about $6K. I have seen and driven the car and it is in amazing condition. Plus, it has a lot of options that mine does not have. I can't decide if it is enough of a difference to justify trading. Anyone have any thoughts they'd like to share? Thanks! |

Seems to me that the 330i is pretty loaded. Since he has LESS mileage than you AND the top trim for the 3 in that year (I think??) and it seems to have a lot of options, and you like the car, the only questions I have for you are:
1. Why are they SELLING it? If not a dealer..is it a private owner, if not, ignore this question....... 2. Do you like the new car BETTER than your current car? 3. Do YOU feel that you would be comfortable making this deal? What does your gut tell you? 4. What would you advise a friend if they had the same question? If YES to #2 and 3, and you are satisfied with their answer to #1, and your own advice per #4, then I say: GO FOR IT! Looks like a sweet ride! 6k to bump from a 325 to a 330 seems about right...Get them to drop 1k since it is now 2 year old model and I'd jump all over it. Plus, you have already done business with them and trust them to a degree as I assume you are happy with the current car........ Good luck either way.............. |

1. He's a dealer; I've bought several cars from him so there is no question of trust there.
2. I like some things better. Bluetooth, Logic7 and heated seats mainly. The rest didn't seem all that different from my car. 3 & 4 are the kickers. I've been wrestling with it since I drove the car and don't have a clear idea in my mind. But it is a really nice car... |

lol you remind me of me, a couple of weeks ago i wanted to trade my 328i for a 328XI it had more miles but A LOT More options and XI at the end i didnt do it cause im getting the same engine and such, just AWD and more options, however, your situation is different, u get an upgraded engine and more options, if
more HP and options mean a lot to you then do it!! and it has xenons! but if you think the 325i has enough power and options, then id wait for a 335 lol |

NO. Doesn't seem worth it to me. I also understand that bluetooth is also available aftermarket??? I wish here in FL they offered COOLING seats, now they would be worth 6k by themselves to me lol |

330 engine has quite a bit more hp than 325, feels like a lot more.
11K miles is less than 20K+ It has the options you want I use the seat heater all the time in the morning here in cold and rainy Nor Cal. You may need to get a "compatible cell phone" to fully utilize BT, but it's another feature I really like too. Logic 7 in my AMG sux. Don't have it in the BMW, so I'm neutral there. Do it. What's the inservice date? earlier or later than yours?

Is your car working fine with relatively little mechanical problems?
If the answer is yes, don't do it. Gambling that another car is going to be as sound as your car is taking a major risk especially with such a hit & miss record as BMW has. |

If I recall correctly, the build date is about a year earlier than mine (08/06); I'm not sure about the inservice date. I'll have to check. Since my car's inservice date is 03/07, I suspect the inservice date is at least a year earlier as well.
There's nothing wrong with my car; it's just that this one is nicer. I'm about to embark on a 5 hour drive, so I should have plenty of time to ponder the decision. |

To answer the other question, no the 330i has not been wrecked. I went over every panel, even used a paint meter, and it all checks out.
My understanding is that it was traded at the local Mercedes place on a new CLK convertible. |

Thanks for all of the opinions. Although the low mileage and heavy equipment are very tempting, I think I'm going to pass. I've only had the 325i for 5 months and I'd just feel a little strange trading a car this new.
Oh well, it's going to make someone a really nice car... |
