Scratch-X BLOWS!
oh well soo much for testing on a small area of my car. a nice sized patch near the gas tank is all swirled out thanks to Scratch-X.
BE WARNED! DO NOT USE ON NEW BLACK CARS!!! i was trying to take out some scratches and ended up putting a shit load of tiny scratches all over the rear panel. def not the product ive been reading about on the forums... ive tried waxing and its helped a little bit... but still you can tell where i had applied the Scratch-X J3

You might not have buffed it out enough to break down the polish, although I recommend getting at least a porter cable for detailing. It makes things much easier and you can fix the swirls from the scratch-x.

I used it on my 162's and they look incredible. It took off all the little stains and then I waxed them up.I think its a great product but a little dangerous to use on black.

IMO it's not dangerous to use on black. My guess is whatever the OP used to apply it scratched his paint.

i dunnoooo
I used a fairly new clean 100% cotton tshirt with none of the seams/stiching. I applied a small dab to the shirt then slowly worked it into the scratch. i then slowly worked out towards the edge, then buffed clean with another side of the shirt. i didnt notice the swirls until i was out in the sun and its like a big shit on my rear panel.
@328i what do you mean i might not have buffed it out? maybe i can rectify this? all i see is awesome paint... then all these really thin fine swirls where i used scratch-x. as i mentioned this is practically a brand new vehicle with no swirls or scratches... except in that area. Pictures to come!

It probably wasn't a good idea to use a T-Shirt to buff out scratches. Microfiber towels are much softer and safer for the paint. The scratches that are left behind are very fixable with the proper polish. I'll let one of the more experienced guys chime in though on how to fix it. Good luck.

I've applied it by hand with a soft terry applicator and never had any hazing or microswirls. And I've used a decent amount of pressure and rubbing when applying it.
I really think it was the t-shirt. T-shirts are fine for polishing metal, but you really need to use a soft applicator with something like Scratch-X on paint. Anyway, machine polishing or re-applying Scratch-X with a soft applicator should take away the hazing IMO.

Remember ScratchX isn't a apply, haze remove product. You are supposed to rub it until it turns clear. The particles break down as you go. It is a great product.

my buddy just used Turtle Wax Rubbing compound on his new black car.........let's just say it doesn't look good.
Never used Scratch X, but have heard good things, I think they error might be inthe application. |

No. Use machine polishing or a filler to remove or hide swirls, respectively.

You can rub through the paint with rubbing compound. Scratch-X is extremely gentle and much finer.

I thought a PC does the job faster than hand. Someone told me a PC should only take 30 minutes tops. Anyway, you have a PM.
