Anyone gotten an aftermarket exhaust yet?
I gotta admit, that I'm finding it extremely difficult choosing an exhaust for my M4...
The youtube clips don't really do the vendors any favours, as they all sound pretty meh, but then people chime in and say that the exhausts sound very different and much better in person (which really doesn't help either! lol) Sooooo, has anyone in Sydney changed their exhaust yet?

The M Performance exhaust seems to translate well via the vid/sound clips I've reviewed. Tried getting a price via BMW here in Perth (extortionate price expected of course) but was advised that due to non ADR compliance they couldn't bring it in. Anyone else tried with their local dealership?

M4 Exhaust advice
Hi all I'm new to the forum and only joined because I saw that the post was referencing my Austin Yellow M4.
I was lucky enough to buy one of the last six E92's built in June 2013 and very reluctantly sold it in May 2014 when I ordered the M4. Shouldn't have been concerned. The M4 runs rings around the E92 in almost all aspects. The obvious one where it really struggles was the exhaust note. Having owned a C63 with Performance pack I knew what a good exhaust note sounded like. Yes Bruno at City Performance Centre was v helpful and this was the 1st Akrapovic exhaust for the M4 installed in Australia. He has now done close to a dozen and his back orders are growing. I think Akra are under the pump with in excess of 700 M3/4 exhausts having been ordered - mostly in the US of course. My son runs "Petrol Fuelled Passion". He takes videos of special cars. He did a compare of my stock and Akra sounds on You just need to get your head around any warranty issues. Basically if you have an issue with the exhaust or an issue arises because of the non factory exhaust you are on your own. I have spent 25k on my fully spec'd M4 and in my mind the "bang for your buck" item was just over 4k for a chip and tune at CPC. As you know stock is 317KW, 550NM and 0-100 in 4.1 sec. Try 372KW, 707NM and 0-100 in 3.7 sec!!!! They thought I should have nailed 3.5 seconds but I'm not much of a driver and I'm happy at 3.7. You know how I mentioned an exhaust issue would be frowned upon by BMW service if you fitted an Akrapovic exhaust; the chip and tune is easily discoverable when they plug in and you would be up the creek if there was an engine issue. If you want to see my car my son has a youtube video under Petrol Fuelled Passion entitled BMW M4 Austin Sunrise. Hope this was helpful |

Hi - I don't have an affiliation with City Performance Centre and I'm a bit anxious about being seen to promote them.
I think I know pretty well what they did for the performance enhancement but you are better off asking Bruno directly. He would be more than happy to discuss and send you the dyne results. I just can't believe how much better it performs from stock. |

I'm a little wary of CPC to be honest, after I heard how they handled MARZZZ's blown engine on his PES S/C RS5.
Which is a damn shame, because they are a stone's throw away from me and it would be so handy to have a trusted workshop so close by.

I assume it was a piggyback, and right now the best one of those is a JB4 which costs US$799. |

good videos david, bmw shouldn't frown upon using akrapovic exhausts....they use them for the m5 OEM perfomance exhausts.. they just re brand the tips to uglier ones with m logo, the chip is a different issue though.

Very loud....
I love the cracks and whips and gutteral note of the M Performance exhaust, but that is very very very loud!

I had a system priced up at $5500 AUD but then you have to pay for the tips.
CF tips are $1600 and Ti are $1150. So $7k for a MUFFLER & REAR PIPES + P&H... |

Well, I took the plunge and bought one of the very first Magnaflow mufflers produced... Got it fitted today.
Sounds very nice. Quite different to the M Performance exhaust based off the above video. The M Performance exhaust barks and cracks... The Magnaflow is very very smooth and has a very deep tone.. I'm in Sydney on the weekends if anyone would like to hear it. I'd love to hear an MPE in person too, if anyone in Sydney has one yet!

Wayne from Super Cat Converters (Official Magnaflow distirbutor for Australia) imported it for me. Great service (regular updates throughout manufacturing and shipping), and was open to pricing negotiation. I still want to spend a bit of time with an M Performance exhaust, if anyone has one fitted?

I got the full Magnaflow system yes, but the "full" system is still only a cat-back.
