Washer fluid leak
Hi, anyone got a washer fluid leak on the 335 before? The washer fluid low light comes on every few months and I found some of the rain-x orange fluid that I put in to the car on the floor where my car sits. The fluid is found below the left hand side (driver side) headlight.
Where should I look for to find the leak? Does it cost a lot to fix this? |

Probably where the head light washer is. Mine did that. Probably an O ring leak in one of the connections. You have to take the fender liner out to access the headlight washer.
If you have to replace the washer, the front bumper has to come off |

Sorry to bring this back, but I am having the same issue for the last few months, keep getting low washer fluid warning, fill it up and a week or two later it comes back on and had to fill it up and never saw any fluid on the ground or in the car could not figure out what was happening until yesterday. It appear the plastic bottle which hold the fluid is deteriorating, the plastic filler neck is all brittle and cracking and washer fluid was leaking out as I filling the bottle.
I have never seen this happen before, I could not believe BMW would use such cheap plastics for this to happen. Then I been thinking about what changed, and then I realize that I used rain-x washer fluid a few times and remember that when you put rain-x on your windows it tells you to be careful about getting it on rubber since it will break it down. Also if you use a paper towel to put it on the towel almost falls apart after using it. I am beginning to think rain-x washer fluid it bad to use especially with the plastic that BMW is using for the washer reservoir. Looks like I will need to replace my reservoir this spring. |

I don't think its the plastics, I have the same problem.
But I think this was caused by the intake pipe being too close to the exhaust, its melted a little at the top |

That is what I found with mine when I took it all apart. Originally I thought the tank was leaking since I went through fuild so fast. Turned out the filler tube was cracked down to the first bend which allows about 1/2 of the fuild to drain out of the tank since the tude connect to the mid point in the tank the tank goes all the way to the top of the fender.

Buy the filler tube. Its a bitch without completely removing the fender liner due to the one-time-use rivets on the front edge, but doable. If I had it to do over, I'd remove the liner completely and replace the washer fluid strainer while I was in there.

It looks like their price went up, I paid $25 if your look around, you may find it for less somewhere else. The BMW part number is 61664419445 |
