E93 Owners: Would You Trade Your Vert For An M3 Coupe??
with the comparisons in each sub forum going on, i started thinking about this. Im not completely sure what I would do faced with the decision, but as of now I feel like I would keep my car. The 335 vert and M3 coupe are around the same price, give or take a few. I personally am not going to track my car so I dont need the amazing handling of the M3, plus im more than content with the way my car drives. Speed - lets be honest here, if i wanted a faster car, the 335 beats the M3. The only places im gonna need speed is on the highway, not the track. I would like the "prestige" of an M, but id much rather have a vert.
Feel free to share your feelings |

Keep your car, you'll get killed in trade in.
Also, the E92 M3 is about 9k more MSRP when you add the leather that the E93 has standard - that's not insignificant. In fact, its quite a bit. But I am confused why you think the 335i is faster? An E92 M3 will kill an E93 335i. |

faster cuz u can crank the boost up
I'd stick to my E93 if I wanted an M3, I would have gotten an M3... speed isn't everything, and if it is... I got Turbos prestige of an M3... that's cool and all, but the girls lose their tops to the car that does first I mean if all you care about is attention, you'll get more of it in a E93 (staying between the 2) cuz most girls don't know what an M3 is... hell most girls don't know the difference between a 320 and an M3 :P... they'll believe a false badge M3

If I wanted a Vert, I would get a M3 Vert. and I saw videos on another thread that had the e92 m3 vs e92 335i coupe Proceded v2.0 The E92 M3 still walked it. Your going to need more than a chip... possibly bigger turbo's.

I'd only think about trading the 335 vert for a GT-R. But I'm on a waitlist for a GT-R, so I want both!

You answered your own question. Keep the vert.

Keep the vert - that is why I bought the 335 vert - it isn't a coupe, why would I want an M3 coupe, could have just bought a 335 coupe - now an M3 vert - that would be nicey!

A 335i is a nice, quick, luxury German motor, the M3 is a feckin' event everytime you take it out!!
If I lived in the States where you are not paying $10 a gallon it would be a no brainer for me. |

Also, once you finish with the options list on the M, I'm guessing you'd be looking at more like $70k - quite a bit more than the 335 vert...

The M3 feels serious quick too, the chipped 335i feels quick but it doesn't have that brutality that the M3 has.
Come trade in you have a 335i with loads of stuff bolted on or an M3, the M3 will be cheaper in the long run. |

Then again, even if I did like verts, I'd much rather have an M3 still.

Thats a good way to spend your Parent's money kid!!!! Go for it, they can't bring it with them to the eternal resting place, so just spend it, plus you will get more girls with a M3 than a regular 335i convertible..

a few things i would like to point out
1.) Ive given my answer, this isnt really a "help me decide" thread. Its more of a "this is how i feel, how about you?" thread...lol 2.) I was referring to the 335i...fact is, if i want speed, it would be "cheaper" to upgrade the vert past the M3. Obviously you can't settle for just V2 if you wanna beat the M3, but thats not the only modding option you have with the 335. |

We're almost talking 2 different lifestyles here. I have the E93 myself, my first convertible. I chose it because of the high performing power plant and it came with the convertible hardtop. Great compromise. I haven't driven the new M3 but the top down feeling on a nice day you can't get on the M3 (yet). I have now limited trunk space but my work and lifestyle doesn't require me to cart around anything big other than the occassional groceries and a set of golf clubs. Wife has the last generation coupe and I have access to other vehicles if I need more carrying capacity. I also don't track or have long commutes so I've no real need for anything more powerful. After my lease is over, the M3 convertible will be good and readily available if I want to continue down the convertible/more power path. There's just so much flexibility and modding appeal in the E93 that it keeps me plenty busy. Just my $.02.
Cheers! |
