BMS Stage 1 for 2015 335i

I am pretty new to this whole modding stuff and wanted some feedback to make sure I am understanding this correctly. From research, I have found that BMS stage 1 the most popular upgrade for noobs like me.

Couple of questions...
1. After I install, does it void warranty? Do I just unplug and go in for yearly service?

2. Which gas octane do I need?? 91? 93? I usually just put premium gas and don't really look at the octane numbers since the car is stock...

3. whats the MPG with BMS stage 1? (whats the diff in MPG btw stock and BMS stage 1)

4. Perfectly fine with stock with this upgrade?

5. Any other risk I should know about..?

Thank you in advance...

1. Doesn't void until dealer flags. But if you want to be technical any mods should void your warranty. Just unplug and go in stock when you need service.
2. Any octane that you normally run runs with the Stage 1.
3. Should be the same unless you drive harder. I actually got 1-2 lower mpg after intake installed.
4. Its perfectly fine
5. You might get rough idles and some hiccups when the car is cold. Also theres always risk that the car runs into problems because you are running higher than stock boost. But thats a risk you take with any mods.

I am trying to get one for my F25 X3 with BMS intake and the JB1 looks pretty good to me compare with the super expesnive Dinantronics. I am on a lease, so as long as dealer is not able to find out the mods I should be ok.

Actually, if you want to be technical NO mods should void your warranty. Magnusson Moss Warranty Act forbids it, unless the aftermarket part directly causes a problem and the manufacturer/dealer can prove it without a shadow of a doubt.

That's what exactly my service advisor told me. He is runing with a ECU tunning chip and all other his colleagues are runing with JBs and Dinan tunes.

i hear this all the time about voiding "the warranty". When someone is asking that, do they think it's like on/off? Warranty, no warranty? How could you think an aftermarket downpipe or a bms stage 1 would prevent the dealership from fixing your radio or sunroof? Now if you blow the engine or turbo and go to the dealership with the damn thing still hooked up to the car, then you are asking for trouble.

What makes the dealer "flag"? If I just unplug and go, do they notice?

The warranty question is not much of an issue with something as simple as the Stage 1.

I would be more inteserted to hear from those that have the Stage 1 installed.

1. Do you feel much of an improvement in power?
2. Does the car have the same linear power delivery as stock?
3. Any issues that you have run into?
4. How easy is the install?

1. power is quite noticeable, especially if compared to MPPK. you'll notice the torque increase from 2nd gear onwards (6-spd).
2. bms stage 1 power delivery is more snap-back instant. if you're looking for linear power delivery, go with jb4 map 1, or map2 if you have 93 octane, dp, charge pipe.
jb4 is definitely more linear but also may feel slower (it's not) because of this.
3. no real issues. car does stutter abit when cold and in 1st gear during comfort mode at times for me.
4. 5 mins for bms stage 1 install. around 30 mins for jb4.

I think someone asked about mpg. I'm getting around 25.4 when going 80% comfort/20% sport (60%fwy/30%city). averaging 21.9 when 80%+ sport mode. this is on bms stage 1, bms intake, mpe.

Agree with the above.
Adding aftermarket tune should not automatically void your warranty but jsut to be on the safe side, remove it before your dealer visit.

+1

OP, as mentioned above MPG should not change unless you start driving the car harder.
The power increase is very noticeable
91 and up octane works
Jb and Jb4 are installed on thousands of cars, some of them have been running it for years on high mileage engines with no issues. It is a very safe tune proven to work within engine's safe parameters.
