New diff fitted-

Hi all-just had a new diff fitted by stealers(AUC) to stop a whine below 30mph which it has cured, but now it seems I have a whine above 30mph, only noticeable when resting foot on the accelerator, so does this mean I have a new problem?-or is this the norm?-stealers road tested it and to their knowledge cured all whine problems-car is a 2008 e93 320i-thanks

Just seems strange the speed at which the car whines varies?

I drive an e90 and I've ridden in several e91s and e92s, and I've never noticed a whine... Could be because I wasn't listening for it, but I tend to hear things like that... I would take it back and ask. If it didn't happen before it was replaced, it doesn't seem like a coincidence that it started right after you got it replaced. Good luck!

Is it a rebuilt diff? Could need sometime to break in if it was set tight. If it is new/rebuilt i recommend a diff oil change after break in. 500-1000 miles?

But if the noise is loud and doesn't go away after a few days its not normal for sure.

Where is the replacement diff from?

Had a wavetrac in the car for about 80K miles and 6 years. With the rear seat down 40mph steady state speed is a noticeable whine at probably 50db. Not noticeable with the seat up.
