Arrow MIL (military sales) info of interest to all

Received the following...my rep seemed pretty certain of the following:

"According to BMW today, we should have the military sales pricing for the M3 by end of this week/early next. The launch for the M3 Coupe will be the last weekend of March which means none will be delivered before this date. The M3 Sedan will have a later launch date for end of May/beginning of June.We should also have information on ordering soon. Once I’ve submitted your order, BMW will confirm a build allocation which I will also forward to you. Hang in there just a bit longer!"

Now that they've announced pricing and what with all the cars already built (per that picture of rows upon rows of Melbourne Red ones), why would they make us wait another 2.5 months?

My guess is dealer cars are here but if you order, you won't see it until the above dates...hope I am wrong though.

So, everyone who's car will be here before that has to wait? Some will be waiting a full month.
Does BMW attempt to make any sense with their dealings?

This is the same as reported by the Canadian contingent, some of whose cars are already there. That really sucks! At least mine will probably not be here until about then, anyway, but I feel for people who were planning on getting it earlier.

Strange and frustrating, all this stuff is undoubtedly the fault of BMW's marketing gurus!

UPDATE and CORRECTION

We just received the update today. Below is part of it directly from BMW:

...heres the update on our launch activities. Weve decided on two major launch weekends for the first half of 2008, please see below. The first( 29 March -30 March 08) will see the 1 Series Coupe, the M3 Coupe as well as the MINI Clubman being launched.

Please note that STRICTLY NO CAR is to be delivered before the launch date -even though it was produced earlier.

And my mistake was the Convertible which will have a later launch. The coupes and sedans are end of March. This doesn’t mean cars won’t be built, they just will not be delivered before end of March.

The dealerships in the US are not expecting any M3 Coupes or Sedans until after end of March.

This is basically what I was told as well...

The customers that have orders in currently and were expecting Feb allocations were probably getting dealer demos. Which, as we know, are delayed now too.

I love the fact that my friend saw one coming off Palomar Mtn Road just 2 days ago. Some dealer in this area is driving one though BMW NA didn't think it wise to have one available at the SD auto show.

I sure hope they stick with a < / = 15% increase for the MSP.

Jason, I still have been unable to get my place in line out of the rep. You were "6th" right?

I wonder if they could get our orders in/built in time for the March release?

Military info

the head of the company my order is with said it may take until 1-31
to have the military pricing, hopefully sooner

In the past the discount was 12 percent to 15 percent off msrp

I am ordering a sedan and upgrading my wifes 335 vert to a convertable
M3 with the DCT

I will post as soon as I know

It looks like a base Sedan will be $48-49K
a coupe starting around $49-50 so their guesses were correct

I was at the German dealer that owns this Military group and
the M-3 they had was 74/k Euros $100K US !

Time to Order !

I've emailed my rep twice over the last week or so at Pentagon Mil Sales...he must be on holiday or something as I've gotten no response. Should I be worried? Or should I just wait?

When are Mil Sales cars due allocations? I heard that the allocation is only 250 cars and that they won't be built until JUNE? Is that true?

I'm sticking by my original guesses of $50-$52K. This should be pretty close considering the other BMWs are about 91% of the advertised stateside MSRP.

New update from my dealer.
The next available build date for the M3 Sedan is April for military sales.

Atomicdoc who's your rep? My Pentagon Mil Sales rep in Germany has gone MIA on me over the last 2 weeks. No response to emails or anything. How are the rest of you guys finding out info from your various sales folks/reps?

Got my purchase order still but would like to update my options at least pending my allocation date and build date notifications.

Any thoughts of what to do next guys?

Is it possible for us to track our orders on the web like the guys in the states?

Last time I bought throught MSP ('06 MCS/JCW), I wasn't able to track it myself.
