Have had slight wheel vibration for 6 months now.
Honestly I have no idea what to do. The vibration is extremely slight in the steering wheel between 65-75 miles. If you don't look for it you wont notice it and even then it feels like its not on there all the time. Seems worse on some roads and better on others. I increased the air pressure on all my square set up tires to 36 psi and it made it better.
Tired of taking it to shops and they are like herp the derp you need to balance it. I tell them its been balanced and I have lifetime balancing so I can have it balanced a million times over if I wanted. They just say we have to start there.. We have to do it to make sure its right. They do it and give the car back to me and say they can't find anything wrong. The balance is good.. Any shop I take it to wants to charge me to balance the freaking tires.. Tired of paying for freaking balances. Honestly, I think its a very slightly bent rim. But no places here can check for that and even if they could would they be able to find such a small bend? |

I just recently purchased my 328 and it hade vibrations over 50mph had the wheels balanced a number of times and it didn't change.
Took it to a shop that straightens wheels and had 3 bent rims, the guy put the wheel on a balancing machine and you could visually see the run out on the inside of the rim. How numerous shops including the BMW a dealer didn't spot this is beyond me, you couldn't miss it. Get it on a balance machine and look at the inside of the rim when the spin it up. If it is bent you will for sure spot it |

Probably a bent rim. Are you using road force balancing? They should be able to tell you which tire is the hardest to balance (least amount of force able to be applied during balancing) That wheel is probably the bent one.
It could also be a tire issue. Tires can develop internal non visible defects that can cause the same type of issue. |

Have you checked the hub circumference for corrosion/buildup/gunk?
I had a similar issue for months and finally I realized what I thought was a weld bead was actually very hard corrosion buildup where the wheel seats against the hub. Once I chipped it away the wheel sat more squarely against the rotor/hub and the vibration was gone. |

Over the past few years, at different times I've had numerous symptoms of shakiness caused by different issues.
1st time: Bushing gone bad. Replaced. 4th: Bad balance from a tire shop I had been going to for years for tire mounting. The shop re-balanced and said their must be something else wrong with the car. I took it to a different shop for balancing and it's perfect now. I would try this first. I think some shops don't have their equipment calibrated correctly. |

I too replaced my tires with Michelins and had the first balanced checked by another shop. They said it was fine. |

If you suspension is in order and wheels are straight, start by removing the front disks and check for corrosion or stuff between the disk and the bearing seating surface, once that is top shape and cleaned off then check the rear as well.

Have you tried moving the tires from front to rear to see if the vibration moves from the wheel to the seat? It does sound like a balance issue and if someone PROPERLY uses their road force machine then they should be able to eliminate the concern.
