Scuff mark on interior door
While getting out of my car, my boot created a scuff mark on the hard vinyl.
Any tips on minimizing its appearance? |

This is probably my biggest issue so far with interior quality. No car I have ever had including my past 335 or the X3 (let alone the civic daily) scratched this easily. A scuff would come out, but mine got a scratch right on that outermost part about 30 mins after I took delivery in Munich. When I got it back, I began using the Zaino vinyl protectant product but it didn't seem to help until I tried something different last week. Instead of rubbing it in, I swept it in one direction (towards the rear) and it no longer appears. Try that and see if it helps. Bugged the hell out of me for sure.

Try aerospace 303 protectant. It may not completely eliminate the mark if the damage is below the vinyl surface. A good vendor for assistance on this matter and other detailing jobs is "autogeek.net".

I'd post on the detail forum on the other site and see what the best recommended practices are.

Try an eraser, we call them rubbers over here [no jokes please], like on the end of a pencil. Rub it gently back and forth over it, and it should remove the tiny loose bits, then use some trim shine, like aerospace protectant. Give that a try.

if you try to use the magic eraser it's an abrasive make sure you are aware they you can make it worse.
you can use a dressing like Adam's Super VRT it's a dressing in gel form and will hide it. with any dressing even 303 you may need to do the complete door so that it won't show any streaks. also you can give it a go and see if the dealer would good faith and fix it for you under warranty. for more detailing tips you can also check out Detailing Bliss |
