M235i ///M Performance exhaust.....on a 228i

Looked around and didn't see anyone that's done this yet, so i ordered one today as well as a Supersprint section 2 straight pipe....also for an M235i....80mm pipe vs. 75mm pipe. Supersprint piece likely won't arrive for a few weeks, but I'll do a quick write up once installed.

Been wanting to post mine up since November.

It isn't a direct fit.
The hangers on the MPE have to be extended and the piping is slightly off.

Nothing an exhaust fabricator can't do. It took about 90 minutes to install.

Awesome! Glad to finally hear of someone doing this. Where was the piping off? As mentioned I'm doing the Supersprint section 2. Not sure if this will make things easier or more difficult.....???

Either way, post a video if you can.

Is the Supersprint pipe necessary?

No....not necessary at all. I did it simply for a little better exhaust flow and a little more sound 😁

M Performance system has been installed. Supersprint section 2 would not work (thought I could get it to, but it's just too far off).

Initial impression is underwhelming. I was hoping for something a little louder....not super loud, but louder. I've heard that the M Performance system will break in, but we'll see.

I think the next step is a downpipe.....Wagner or something else.

Is the section 2 effectively a resonator delete? Wondering how much of a difference different piping would make vs keeping the original pipe but removing the resonator

Dont worry it will break in for sure.
When I first installed mine I was very disappointed, but the sound became apparent as time went by

Yes, the Supersprint is essentially a resonator delete.....straight pipe. The other "benefit" was that it was for the M235i meaning it was also an 80mm pipe vs. the 228's 75mm pipe.

Just had mine installed. Not very loud yet and only real difference is when I am in sport mode. Im sure it will chance as it settles in. I installed the M performance defuser as well and the tips look lame IMO. Need something larger but not sure where to go. Cyba isn't working on them yet and asked if I knew the size. Anyone know?

Id say a little but not much. I mean I prefer the sound but I wouldn't say louder, yet. Ice heard it gets louder as it settles in. We will see

I am actually hearing a weird "clicking" noise coming from the rear of the car which seems to be the new exhaust. Any thought on this?

When does it happen? Could it be from the heat of the exhaust? Like when you get a new car and it clicks after you shut it down due to the hot metals cooling at different rates?

Or perhaps a bad welding job. If the weld brakes loose the metals will click and clack when driving.
