considering buying 2008 328i sedan
Hi everyone. I am new to this forum. I maybe considering buying a 328i sedan with color combo Silver/Grey/Wood.
The options I would like to add are: -Steptronic -premium package -sports package -cold weather package -navigation system -park distance control -sunshades -ipod/usb adaptor -comfort access -bi-xenon headlights Have anyone else have a similar equipped 3 series sedan? Are there any options here that i listed here that u guys thin are not worth it? |

Wow thats a very fully loaded 328i, as you can see i have a pretty bare bones 328i....so i dont have most of those options, get xenons for sure i didnt and i regret it, the 328i is a pretty fun little car to drive. get it!

Steptronic.
A manual gearbox on a BMW is a "must have".

It really depends on the size of your wallet and your needs/wants.
If you'd like to have all the goodies and you can afford them, why not get them? But if you want a better value, you can save thousands by dropping Nav, cold weather, comfort and sunshades. If you want to save even more, you can drop the premium package. I ordered mine with sports, premium and xenons. |

I concur, I believe a 335i comes standard with xenons, so you don't have to pay for that, go 335i 6MT Premium/Sport/Cold weather and you are set.. If you want Navi, get that too.. The rest is unnecessary unless you can afford it.

If you get a 335i with a 6mt you could get it for near the same price.
If that's not what you're into, and you'd rather have technology, then what you have is pretty much good to go. Things you cannot skip: Comfort Access, Sports Package, Premium Package, Xenons. Just to let you know, the Steptronic tranny isn't the same ZF-sourced tranny as in a 335i. It's a GM product, albeit a good one, but I think you'd save a lot of money and gain a lot of smiles by opting for a manual tranny instead and then buy a short shift knob from your dealer. Honestly, if I was looking at a car with a price like yours (configured on BMWUSA, got $46,000), I'd much rather be more interested in a G37S or a G35S. Really, go check em out. There's much more tech to be offered, more power, and equal handling. It's up to you to go look. Also, have you seen that color combo in real life? It's kinda conservative, but then again, who am I to question one's personal tastes. I just ask that you do yourself a favor and look at the G37S and maybe even a C300Sport. You'll be surprised as they compare to 328i's very well.

I just configured a C300Sport on MBUSA. Fully loaded, it came out to $42k! That's a good deal in comparison to a 328i. Just made a G37S on Infiniti's site: came out to $44k with pretty much everything minus a spoiler. Get this, a G37S, like 95% loaded, comes out to be just $39k! Think about these deals while you go drive the 3.
Wow, I sound almost anti-BMW at the moment lol. Trust me I'm not.

As for getting a 335i, well that's a judgement call. It has more performance but judging by this board it will spend a lot of time in a shop. I skipped on the 335i because of all the issues that seem to pop up. |

hey, i also live in SoCAl! Yeah I was thinking to skip the cold weather package, but I need the fold down rear seats although i know it is also a stand alone option. I just wanted to get the Cold Weather Package because i am afraid i will regret if i dont get the heated seats. Btw, what is the color combo of your 328i and what options did you add? |

I can set you up with a great sales person to get you an awsome deal. Don't get the 328, they are a dime a dozen, get the 335i, you will everything you want and more. Don't settle for 255hp when you can get 350hp even though BMW says the 335i is 302HP, it's been dyno'ed at 350, I'm getting mine done next month.

I don't think the cold weather package is especially useful for us down here but I'm pretty tolerant of the cold. If you get cold easily, then cold weather package might be worth it, it's not that expensive actually. |

I also think CWP is not necessary and I found the Sunshades rather useless after driving a loaner with one.

I know the power difference between the 328i and 335i is dramatic. But i think the 328i has a good enough power for me. BTW, what options did u add on your 335i? |

Hmmmmm 328i..well obviously your looking for a RWD sports straight 6..that's a nice goal, but al those options...335 that $hit. If you do the options on the 328, you want the xenons that 335 already has, the sport package that the 335 basically has stock, premium which COULD BE ADDED, but the 335 also comes stock with the premium sound package ..just go for he 335 i promise you won't regret it, but if ur still stuck on the 328, those options are great just a lot of money that u could change to a 335, and 3 SERIES BMW'S ARE THE BEST IN MANUAL!!! sooooooo smooth, but i guess @ 250hp stock i might consider step..

Several of the options do come standard on the 335, but if you don't need or want the twin turbos and the extra HP, you are still paying much more for it. I am 100% satisfied with my choice, and would order the exact same car again today.
