What is this?

What exactly is that cord hanging over the passenger side there by the ceiling? My CA sent me pictures of my car that arrived yesterday, and I told them NOT to PDI it, I will do it myself. Just wondering what the heck that is.

Pre-Delivery Inspection. Some aluminum-hat wearing conspiracy theorists don't trust dealers to top off with the right grade of gas, etc...

I just tell them NO DEALER BADGES ON THE CAR or I don't take delivery. They always comply.

That's the new supplemental restraint system. If you're going to be in an accident, it wraps itself around your passenger's neck and prevents him/her from smacking their head into the windshield. Hope this puts your mind at ease.

Dunno, but I see it on a lot of pre-delivery pictures.

Wow, check out the plastic tub protecting the mat on the driver's side! I could use something like that on snowy days.

I saw similar devices at Assael BMW after they just unload a bunch of 3'ers and 5'ers off the truck...

the cord is attached to a battery cut-off switch. In order for them to move cars off the trucks and into the service bay, it must be on

why wouldn't you want them to pdi it? You are gonna set all the electronics, remove the shipping blocks etc?

because it entails them detailing his car and giving his new baby complementary scratches and swirls.

They did remove the shipping blocks. I told them to not wash it, wax it, remove any stickers and/or tape inside because like canucklion said I prefer to not get complimentary swirl marks, especially with Jet Black

Exactly what I said bro..I said go ahead fill it up, and do the electronics stuff. And if you need to rinse it off go ahead..but no touching the paint

I'd rather do my own PDI in my interior as well.

My dealer is 150 miles away, and they are the closest one

It's the emergency stop cord. Pull on it and the car will stop immediately.

No idea what the wire is, but +1 for instructing the dealer to

1) NOT install dealer badges
2) NOT drill holes in the front bumper
3) NOT use their dirty hand towel to "polish" your paint.
