Sunroof ?
Is there any way to have the shade closed when the sunroof is in tilt mode on an e92???
I would say that is the only thing that I truly dislike about this car! I understand that you would tilt the sunroof for ventilation, but every other car I have been in or owned you can tilt the roof with the shade still closed. |

Sometimes there is a bright Glare, when trying to look at phone, idrive etc. Just thought it was weird, like I said try it in almost any other car, it works!!

In my ex Audi A6 there are louvers at the front edge of the sunroof shade to let air through and you can close it while the sunroof is tilted open. Not in the BMW.

I think it is way to avoid forgetting the moonroof is tilted and to leave like tilted in bad weather. Only the E91 can have the shade closed while tilted.

my E90 can do this as well...
but my entire sunroof assembly was replaced at around 5k miles, it hasnt worked the same ever since, even though my (previous) service department swears that every car on the lot acts the same.

He's asking because in Mercedes, Audi's, and most other cars, the sunroof shade is vented. . . You can keep it completely clost when tilted and air flow is still possible.
I wish my BMW had this. |

In an '07 e92 I can have the shade mostly closed (only 1/4 open) when the sunroof is tilted open. Just close the shade then tilt open the sunroof. The shade will slide open about 1/4 to let air flow.

Sorry, must have misinterpreted the OPs post. When he wrote "every other car I have been in or owned you can tilt the roof with the shade still closed" I thought I can do that now, the shade just opens slightly. I look at it as 3/4 closed, not 1/4 open Its basically closed in my view... but I guess the extra couple inches of open shade mean the world to some people.

Yeah, I may be kinda OCD but it does kinda drive me crazy. Especially if the sun is shinning right through

Thanks!! At least there is one other person out there who feels the same. I personally like my car really dark inside, hence the 5% tint, I may just tint the moon roof too so that I can have ventilation while still keeping the light out. |

I love the open sky system on the audi's but the vented sunshade sucks...poor quality.

I owned a Subaru Outback some time ago. I brought it into the dealer for a routine service with the sunroof open and the shade closed. When I returned to pick up my car, a red faced service manager cautiously handed my keys back and said " sorry, but we put your car through the carwash with the sunroof open" Despite their futile attempt to dry the vehicle, the carpet was soaking wet, the leather was damp and the roof lining had water spots all over it..........kinda glad my e92 diminishes the chance of this ever happening again

Well my buddy owns a tint shop, he was going to do it for free when I tinted my car, but he said see how you like it without first. It always helps to open the sun shade if you have a cop near you, it makes the tint appear lighter than it is. I think he would charge like $20 though, so it might be worth it! Quote:
