Question about DS mode (noob)
Today, I got to experience the DS mode. It definitely had more kick to it when I pressed the gas pedal than it would in normal mode. My question is, what is the best traffic to use this mode ? stop and go ? highway ? I would like to use it as often as possible...

D mode shifts to early and has no power, DS shifts perfectly for the 328i.
DS should be used all the time on the street. D should be used only on the freeway since DS does not shift into 6th gear thus you end in 5th at a higher RPM giving you less gas milage. |

Use DS whenever you need power... and when you're lazy to shift manually...

I use DS mode especially when i want to accelerate quickly, ex. when entering the freeway and some jackass does not slow down nor speed up for you to enter

It is called the right foot mod.
In D, the car shifts at lower rpms to save gas so if you want to accelerate, you have to push the pedal down harder. In DS, the car doesn't shift till you get to higher rpms which makes easier for you to accelerate. In M, you control when it shifts so you dont have to worry about the car shifting at too high or too low of a rpm for you. All in all, if you just use your right foot and push down when you want to go and let off when you want to slow down, none of the modes really matter... |
