Adding Paddle Shifters?
I don't know why I was on the G35 forum... I was reading something on another thread and decided to read up on the G35-G37. Anyways I ran across this thread http://g35driver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=193619 and was wondering if it would be possible for us to install paddle shifters on our E92's that are not equipped with them.
Thanks for your help! |

Theoretically, if you have the steptronic, you should be able to wire a switch system to the switches already on the shifter. Search bimmerforums.com. There was a retro fit for the e46 330 that were more SMG style, left for down, right for up.

It should be possilbe and should be the same circuit as the e46 - basically you just wire into the existing switches in the console for when you push up and down on the regular step transmission, the kicker with the e46 and I am sure the new car is that it would do it even if you didn't put it in manual mode, so the circuit also had a relay so that the paddles didn't work until you moved the shifter to sport mode. you would also need to buy the sport wheel with the paddle shifters which will be pricey. I just had mine apart for another reason and each shifter has 4 wires, I am thinking of figuring them out in the future and maybe converting it to M3 style one side up and one side down.
Should be easily doable with a little electronics experience and some patience figuring out the wires for up and down shift and figuring out all the wiring for the paddles. |

found some retro kits here, but it's ridiculously expensive.
i'm sad, because my friend at work has a G35, and the paddle kit for his costs only about 200 bucks http://www.mrpaddleshift.com/main2.htm |

Oh, sorry. Stupid frames navigation
http://www.mrpaddleshift.com/products/e87_e90_ssg.htm The link to the payment center says accepting orders soon. And I find this scary "*We do not provide support for activating multifunctional features. This has to be performed by your dealer" |

What about this? This shows that it can be done as long as you have a steptronic. It's a bit expensive and you have to order the paddles separate.

it's a $100 dollars extra for paddle shift if you have steptronic
i believe it's not in the sport package but in the options section go to the options section and it's right above steptronic transmission http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...ModelCode=0833 |

Some one else on here has done this. I think he had to get a reprogram. I'm not sure where you are saying that it doesn't imply you can use it on any e9x. It flat out says E90/91/92/93 3 Series steptronic transmisson.
