new electronic shifter for e90 facelift?
do u think the e90 will be equipped with the new electronic shifter like the one found in the 5 series facelift and the X5?
do u guys like the traditional AT or the new electronic shifter? I personally like the traditional AT better because it seems more intuitive. wt do u guys think? |

i dont think that they will put that in, but its pretty cool, i played around with it while i was at the dealer about 2 weeks ago, pretty fun, but i thought it was more fragile than the traditional AT.

The electronic shifter is fun to play around. I test drove the 535xi before the 335xi. It takes a little time to get used to, but once you are used to it, it's just like any other AT.

After my recent mistake to buy a BMW automatic in my 328i, my next car will either be MT or the new direct shift auto. I'dont care what the shifter looks like as long as the transmission works well.

If you think Steptronic is bad, try the one in Mercedes Benz

The ZF auto in the 335i is better than the Mercedes auto (I'm assuming you're talking about 7G Tronic) but if you've ever tried a 328i auto with the GM box, it's horrible. I like the Mercedes 7G Tronic more.
That being said both of my parents have older Benzes with the 5 speed auto (2003 and 2004 models) and that's a pretty bad transmission as well. |

Although, the 328i sedan loaner I had at a time seemed to be pretty good. |

Yeah, agree. A friend had an 2003 E500 for a couple of years and that tranny is terrible.

+1, Just a silly gadget. There is nothing wrong with mechanical shifters.

I really like the design on them, but I thought they were kinda flimsy in use. Anyone else screw around with em and feel the same way?
