Eco Mode Instrument Cluster Display...

Although I don't drive in Eco Mode all that often I do from time to time but, when I do, I fund the blue colored instrument display which looks like a fuel pump (and presumably displays the mileage driven in Eco Mode) extremely annoying.

I went through the iDrive settings but could not find a way to either i) stop this information from displaying or ii) reset it to zero.

I would greatly appreciate someone telling me how to do so [i.e. i) stop this information from displaying or ii) reset it to zero].

Thanks.

It shows you the approximate extra miles on a tank of gas you gained by using eco mode vs. comfort mode.

You can't turn the display off if you're using eco mode. You can only reset it to 0 after you fill up since the point of that is to just show you how many miles you saved in that tank of gas by using eco mode.

If you go instrument cluster display there is an option to turn that stuff off and have regular info display instead. I am not in the car so i cant go step by step but i remember there being some option to pick and choose what comes out on your extended instrument cluster

This is the range extension indicator which basically gives you an estimate of how much additional distance you are theoretically squeezing out of the current tank by comparing your consumption in Eco Pro mode vs. your average consumption. It resets when you refill fuel.

That said, no clue how to turn it off sorry.

Just constantly drive 75mph+ and it will no longer be blue and therefore less annoying

I looked at this many many times and cannot find the control to turn this off...in fact, the controls / toggles for the other information are in instrument cluster but not for this, as least based on my investigation...

It'll do it automatically. Once you fill up and restart the car, the next time you go into Eco Mode, the value will be at 0.

Have you tried Settings > Insrument Cluster > Add'l Indicators?

In my car, that eliminates the Eco display.

I'm supposing that your question is only relevant to the Extended Display? I have the basic instruments and when I go into Eco Pro I always just toggle the BC to get back to what was displayed previously.

I got it to turn off. To the left of the wheel there's a stalk with a button at the end of it labeled BC. Just hit that until you get the display you want.

Beat me to it. LOL

I like to see my AVG, so I just hit the stalk button twice I think it is. I use ECO on the commute if I take it to work (the Stg 2GTI is my "commuter" LOL), but on normal drives I put it in SPORT which I have set to leave the engine/trans management alone and just tighten up the chassis and steering.

Uncheck the box "Info Display" under Display menu, the blue bar will turn into a normal MPG gauge indicator.

Yes, we are talking two different things.

Yes, that does "hide" it until the next time one returns to Eco Mode or starts the car...I want it gone, I never want to see it again but it appears, from earlier posts, that this is not possible..

You can also go to iDrive settings, instrument cluster and turn off "Display Eco-Pro" information (or something like that) and it'll revert to standard MPG like Comfort and Sport. Little savings meter goes with that I think, but if not, not sure how to remove that part.

Nope--that doesn't do it. The button at the end of the turn signal stalk toggles it off. I'm not sure how you would do it permanently. since things like rain sensing wipers and fog lights reset when the car is off, I'm guessing there's no way to permanently change this either.

I do confirm that refilling the car with fuel does reset it...I do hope that there is ultimately a firmware upgrade that allows the user to toggle off this display item which is nothing but annoying to me!
