Can you ,please, enlighten me!

I can see, nor hear any difference. What does the actuator do?

Also on EU-spec vehicles?

@sf2360, i believe you can't just unplug the actuator. Because by default it is in closed position. The actuator will create a vacuum to open the flap.
So, in order to let it open, either do a golf tee mod to physically hold the flap open or supply a constant 12v to the actuator to create a vacuum. Don't quote me on the voltage, but it should be in my opinion.
Golf tee mod should be the way, since constant voltage will wear the actuator prematurely.

I don`t understand. There are valves operated by vacuum - from the engine, and there are electrically operated by eg solenoids.

What is this - and why?

X4guy, I have done it on my 35i X3. It is not the same as the old "golf tee mod" as the flap is closed until it receives vacuum from the vacuum control valve in the left rear of the hatch. I spliced the vacuum lines together to bypass the control and the flap opens as soon as the car is started. It is a little loud in the X3 definitely noticeable and a little on the drony side. I'm thinking the ExhaustMeister mod might be a good idea so that you can easily control when you want it open.

can you post a pic of the splice that you did? Im curious of where this control valve is and what the splice looks like. I did the mod an entirely difference way and i think your way sounds like it will be easier.
