The $28.99 shipped cable works

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Purchased from BL&KCRIUS, Prime item so shipped by Amazon. Got the cable pictured, clear with the green board.

DVD was worthless. Cable doesn't work with 64 bit Win 7 (caused all sorts of BSOD's on two different laptops). Works great with Win 7 32 bit.

Was able to successfully communicate with INPA and coded KOMBI with NCS Expert successfully. I have a long list of other stuff to code I will do tomorrow.

Nice alternative to the $100 cable.

I wonder why it only works with 32-bit OS?

You may have to manually load the drivers. If it works on 32 bit, it will work on 64 bit. I've also not had any issues of working on older e90s or the newer ones.

The only issue I've had was cables not working at all due shoddy workmanship.

YES!! After praying during the 2 day prime shipping it finally worked! i was surprised as all i read is people complaining about ordering the wrong cable. This was in fact the green FTDI chip, i did have to update the drivers but it works just fine with my 06 325i. The CD was garbage and i just searched through forums to get INPA and other softwares. INPA works with my 64 bit Windows but unfortunately NCSExpert wont work with INPA if its not a 32 bit windows.

It's crazy that years later there are still 64bit woes.. I just downloaded BMW tools 2.12 and it seemed to install everything fine.. I'm on a newer Macbook Pro Retina with Win7 64bit in VMWARE and so far i've downloaded and installed everything error free.. The only thing I cannot do is change COM1 port latency because that option is not there in my COM1 properties inside device manager.. I wonder if that'd give me an issue upon trying to code..??

Hey I'm new to the coding scene...
I have bought the 8 bucks cable I shared above, and I was successful in fooling around with the ECUs, and so far I've coded:

-instant mpg
-digital speedometer
-disabled correction for both speedometers
-windows and moonroof close with fob

Do you mind sharing what you plan on coding and how, please?
Might give me some ideas and knowing which codes do what certainly help.

Thanks!
