Buy the M235i or wait for the M2?

Hey guys,
My dealership is giving an amazing deal on a fully loaded m235i for 550+tax on a 48 month lease. Should I take the deal or wait for the M2?

Are you going to get the M2 for sure? If yes, then you should wait. If no, then you could go with the M235i. For me, my lease will be up in May, 2017. That allows me to hop into an M2 right when the lease is over. I might put up an ad for someone to take my over my lease at $430 a month. I think it's a good option for someone looking for a vehicle in between while waiting for the M2- I only have about 28 months left.

Not sure if it's a Canada thing but you should be able to do a lot better. Also 48 months are usually terrible leases.

Yeah, its a Canada thing. Normal leases for a 2014 are around 700+freight&tax... To put things into perspective, I'm currently paying 1200+tax for my 2014 535i. I guess car prices really differ vs the US

Thank you all for the advice. I'm most likely going to put a deposit for and wait for the m2

Wait. The 235 isn't a revolutionary experience - good car but I would wait and get the real deal.

leaving $$ aside (which only you could consider) and given that there's a 2014 535i in your garage, definitely wait on M2 which is expected in NA in less than 12 months

It'll be a year before people are taking delivery of M2 if there is no production slip or unless Canada sees them sooner. If you can wait, what's the rush?

do not ever do a 48 month lease. It makes no sense.

Well it could, depending on when the big depreciation hit takes place - some VWs work out nicely this way.

If you value fully loaded...then you probably can save some money and get the M235i. The extra dough for the M2 will really be worthwhile to those that truly want a lighter, nimbler package. Getting it BLoaded defeats much of this. I think you should save the money and get the M235i. It has all the performance a man needs and you can get all the goodies.

Hope that helps.

Want to get screwed, drop a deposit on a car deal that has not be worked out. This is not a 1M there is no reason to drop a deposit unless you'd like to insure you get screwed by being so concerned about having a car that is not limited numbered.

^^This. I see a lot of people on here doing this but they must have good connections with their dealer. Pretty much telling them you're ok paying mark up.

In terms of the m235i vs waiting for the M2, if you are even debating getting the M2 you'll regret it the day you see one of the road if you don't wait.

Wait. The M235i isn't going anywhere, and only more options will arise. Wait until both are available and decide.

I went through this decision as well... M235i vs waiting for the M2. Firstly, you won't get your hands on one for at least earliest Mid June 2016, that's 18 months away.

Second question is... Is it really worth it to get the M2? It will most likely be a very good car, somewhere inbetween a M235i and M3. You'll get 25-30kw more... LSD and basically all the M performance kit.

Base price will cost 20% more... M235i you can already negotiate a pretty good deal, I got 20% off listed price with my options. You'd find it hard to get any discounts on the M2. In Australia, the difference will be close to 35% difference in price ($80k vs $120K) for me unless you're going on the track regularly, its not worth the difference.

By the time the M2 is released, there will be quite a few M3/M4 with not many KMs for the same price. And you know what, as great as the M2 might be, BMW won't make the car better or faster than the M3/M4. What I've also noticed is that M2 like the 1M is towards the very very end of the BMW cycle. Look at the 1M as great as it drives, the car only 2 years old is very dated inside. A new interior from BMW will be release in 2018ish

In modern day standards... cars improve way too quickly for anything to hold its value, and stay up to date.

The point is, buy a car when you need to buy a new car... by the time you wait until the M2 is released, there might be another amazing car releasing in 12-18 months time... are you going to wait again? You might make alot more money at that stage, and can afford a M3. AMG might release a black edition of the A45 which will blow sector apart. You'll never know.

It will be exactly the same car, with just a few minor upgrades.

Not in my case as my deposit is fully refundable with a set discount off list price if I decide to buy.

I can tell you this... fellow forum member Artemis and I made some conclusions about the rear bumper today... and I must say... you will DEFINITELY be able to tell the difference between an M235i and M2 at FIRST glance.

The M2 will shock many.

Wait.
