Steering wheels

Hi all,

I would like to know if it is possible to fit an F series steering wheel into an E series?

No, electronics are different. There was a thread on this I believe.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but is this still impossible naynay, have you looked further into it?

Everyone said it wouldn't work, electronics won't work, etc. then I found someone post up that they did it and was plug and play (with pic installed).

If I was in the market I would research further. A pricey swap as you need new buttons and airbag in the process.

The closest easiest swap i could find was the e89 z4 wheel. its plug and play from what i understand. just need wheel and airbag.

Yeah I looked into that solution 3-4 months ago, there are 2 problems though:

1- I can't tell how thick they are from the photos. I've never held one in real life and I won't be happy if it turned out thinner than the perforated leather E9X M Sport wheel after buying it.

2- My car is 6MT and I haven't came across any E89 steering wheels for sale, that don't have paddle shifters cutouts (they're very rare). On the other hand, I've seen a fair bit of F series M Sport wheels without paddle shifters on eBay from the UK for decent prices but it's a gamble if it didn't fit on the E90.

I really like the look of E9X M3 steering wheel and the perforated leather E9X M Sport steering wheel. But they're starting to look outdated by 2015 standards.
