Shadowline Trim Swirl Marks
So took the car in for its 1200 mile service today and initially told the dealer they could wash it...then changed my mind and they said they shouldn't. Problem is that the idiot valet washed it anyway. Can't tell on the rest of the car but the shadow line trim on the driver's side definitely has what looks like swirl marks...any tips on how to remove those? Thanks in advance!

My initial thought would be a very light cutting abrasive, BUT I would absolutely wait for more experienced detailers to chime in.
Never, EVER, let the dealer touch your ride!!! You could even get them to pay a third party detailer to correct their mess.

Light buffing with a polishing wax is the only way to go. These are plastic parts with thin clear coat.

If you breath on the trim, it swirls. The only option is to polish it every-so-often and try not to touch it, ever. Mine are reswirled after I polished them out in September. I haven't had a car long enough, but I'd wager polshing them twice a year will probably start showing in three or four years. The I'd probably just replace them.

and this is why I will be wrapping mine in expel
OP pick up a fine polish like a Menzerna sf4000 and a very unabrasive pad. Tape off around the pillar if you want to avoid getting crap everywhere and polish it making sure to get even coverage. Its such a small and fragile area that you could even do this by hand without a machine. |

Are you guys talking about the gloss black trim around the windows?
I have swirls/lines on the black rubber(matte) at the sides of the front windshield. Do you recommend same process for these? |

Anyone thought about doing a polish at CCQuartz or Opti-coating these bad boys?

It still does not mean it is 100% scratch resistant, it all comes down to your washing and drying technique I would put XPel film coating if you are picky |

I had mine covered with XPel ultimate. Those things get swirls if you just look at them the wrong way.
